Exterior Design Advice Needed

We are planning on making some minor changes to update the exterior of our home. We are looking to replace the door canopy, paint the steps, and possibly replace the railing and paint the brick underneath. Ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated

IMO the brick is the best part . Why not paint the diding a nice green to go with the brick . Take the too small shutters off the window . Was that awindow before in the pice above the entry? I think painting concrete is a never ending job so if replacing the railing why not tile over the steps. Not sure what you are planning for the door canopy but maybe a nice iron anf glass one and then that would tie in with the railing you have so just reinstall thta after you tile A new front door and no storm door. The front door should be steel and in a color you like with the new siding color. Then if you want a screen do a phantom so you get to enjoy the new door. Then go to work on some nice landscaping.

Didn’t you post these questions a little while back? I remember your house, it’s really cute.

As others have said (on this post and the other) the brick is the best part. The awning is awkward. I would invest all my money in nicer metal handrails and a new awning held up on attractive wood brackets

Thank you! I did post a few months ago, but didn’t get much feedback. We don’t have a huge budget, but we just are planning on updating the front door, painting the steps, and definitely changing the awning. Looking for color ideas for steps and awning

    agree with @HALLETT & Co.

if limited budget? powerwash the steps, paint the door and shutters one of these deeper SW colors

and hang a vivid color flag... do in stages as budget allows.

I like the brick, think the awning needs to go. Maybe add a bit of color with the shutters? Something to match the brick. The stairs are fine. Paint might be more slippery.

Definitely remove the awning. Is painting the house a possibility? That would open up a lot of ideas.

Instead of the awning, look into a proper portico. Two ideas for you:

Stain would last forever on the concrete..will not wear off..but you will need some sort of mat for stairs and porch as wet concrete can be dangerously slippery…

Expanding the awning to cover the whole porch will offer more weather protection..look more substantial..removing the shutters also a good idea as they compete with the other more attractive features

The railings would flow better with the house if painted the house color ..this is easily done with inexpensive paint in a spray can as it has a high glue content that does not scrape off… and easily covers all the detail

Covering the porch against over spray,of course

Those are really nice bricks. I would not paint them.

Cute house! I think landscaping will do wonders- a couple of pots in the porch, shrubs, etc.
