How would the window placement effect the balance of the exterior? Window placement is not decided in a vacuum.

I don’t think it would matter much. It’s on the side of the house that is not really visible to street.

I agree with miilworkman interors and exteriors are deisgned in tandem a change in the interior instantly affeccts the look of the exterior. Are those windows looking out to the covered porch ?

How will you dress the windows? If they are getting curtains the paired windows will take up less space on the wall since the curtains will only be on the outside of the pair. How are you furnishing the room? Is there a view?

Without knowing answers to the questions posed above, I'd consider this, using 3 windows of equal size, and the same size as the smaller windows used on the front wall.

The circle is simply a way to show the wall space is about equal from the window on each wall to the corner.

With two windows, yiu might be tempted to put a small table between them, and there will be less room for the person seated at that end. With centered window, When people are at the table, the person at that end will have room to move their chair, and a server will have room to walk behind them, since there will be no furniture behind them. OHOT, will there be bright light behind them during the day (brunch? summer supper?) making them hard to see?

What is next door? What will be opposite the window? What would the view from, and into, either arrangement be? Consider the stairs, the family room, and kitchen in that, as well as what other windows are on the side: kitchen and upstairs.

Wow, thank you to everyone for the helpful comments! No view on that side and no sun either. I will just have dining table and chairs, but I was worried future owners might want a china closet or some tall furniture. House was destroyed in a tornado and I am pretty old, so I can’t help thinking a little about the next owner!

Hi Jr1513- I don’t mean to trivialize your question here. But honestly, an odd or misplaced window in a dining room isn’t something you should worry about regarding resale. No house is perfect. Good luck to you!
