The previous owner(s) know what they are doing. The tv could perhaps be lowered a bit; but imo they have it in the right spot.

It looks like you may be floating a sofa. So i recommend using a sofa table behind the sofa (or sectional) to anchor it.

I wouldn't want the tv on the stair wall either.

I'd be thinking about extending the back of the kitchen wall out to the right and closing up the top, and then put both the TV and fireplace on the living room side. Could that be in the budget, or would you hate losing the wide view to the back patio? I'd also lose the ceiling fan.

Hi. I would create add a sofa as shown and create a "hall" behind it. With the photos, it is hard to say which side of the window the tv would work on. I'd need exact measurements.

This does double duty, as you don't have true front hall.

I recommend a fireplace console under the tv.

The wall you are suggesting for the TV is 19 ft 8 inches, with the portion of wall on left side of the window measuring at 7 ft 2 inches and the portion of wall on right side of window measuring at 7 ft 4 inches. Window is approx 5 ft.

I think the tv could go on either side. I am inclined to suggest the tv go more on the left side (toward front door area).

You could do a sofa an a couple of chairs or consider a sofa with a chaise or a sectional with one side shorter. Really depends on how you live.

I would not 100 percent discount the tv on the stairs wall. Only issue with this is that foot traffic would walk between the tv and sofa OR foot traffic would walk behind the sofa to the fornt door.

Would be very helpful to have the measurements for the room. If vary narrow, then you need the TV on the stairs and the seating on the window walls. If wide enough to subtract a hallway and still be able to make a conversational circle of seating, then CDR's suggestion is probably best.

I don't like the tv under the stairs either. It seems like it's in the line of foot traffic. Most living rooms don't seemed to be designed for good tv placement, but everyone has a tv and likes to put it there, so it never makes any sense to me. There are always too many windows and doors or a fireplace dominating the LR. I think you are going to have to try to make it work in that corner if you must have one in there.

It would bother me to be watching a telelvision under the stairs and have people and their feet coming up and down the stairs in the same field of vision.

You could easily place a TV, over an electric fireplace, where the artwork is on the wall. Then place a sofa facing the TV, floating in the room, with a walkway behind it. This might be the ideal place for the TV, if you don't want to keep it right where the stairs are. Note the walkway behind the sofa in the first photo.
