I'd love to see a soft muted green or blue polished ceramic tile here - or a glass tile if the rest of your house leans modern craftsman or similar.

Don't usually recommend patterned backsplashes but your kitchen is kind of devoid of pattern. So, in this case I would recommend some pattern. Perhaps would recommend a light gray backsplash with some black in it since your countertops are black.

Can you post in the comments pics of the other sides of this room? The tile needs to look good with everything in the visual field of this room. Beautiful counters. What are they made of?

I agree that a small patterned tile can give this kitchen a bit of pizzazz. There are so many options, but pure black/white/grey is only one.

lean toward white subway. But I would choose some hardware first. Patterned tile? I see more benefit from a more basic approach.....the tone of the wood is nice.....white subway would be an excellent complement. Bring in samples...there are variations on "white".

I would do something that ties together your grays and wood tones. The cement tile patterns above are great. Just be careful that the scale works for the space under your cabinets, if you have to make a lot of cuts the pattern might not turn out as you anticipated. I think plain white will be too stark.

A handmade look tile with some slight color variation would look nice. Just be sure to get samples to see in your space and light.

Also keep in mind that any rectangular solid color tile can be installed differently to add interest. Every one of these is plain
subway tile and they’re all different.

No Idea but just want to say that I love your cabinets and the narrower frame.

What about a sage green or pale blue tile for the backsplash? You could even just do a 4" backsplash of the countertop material.
