Don't forget that you can add light at the people level. Floor and table lamps add a layer of light to a room that is more cozy than overhead lighting.

I looked up mountain modern style chandelier and found some options. We have some good photoshoppers here, hopefully, they'll respond.

IMO light from a 20' ceiling needs to be at human height and chandeliers are often styled with bulbs lighting the ceiling . I would check out cable lighting it get the light where it actually lights the room Do you need mountain style ? I use Tech lighting usually for cable and they have lots of choices for heads . IMO make sure all are LED 4000K that will really brighten up the space .Waht I see is quite contemporary so the cable lighting would be perfect .

Don't get LED 4000k lights without first making sure you want them. Most people who don't have vision problems find them very harsh and unpleasant.

If lighting is an issue, are you able to add pot lights? That may also open up chandelier choices that don’t necessarily provide the best lighting and/or leave fans if useful.

Your decor leans contemporary and also consider the cabin, so try to suit both styles. Also suggest side tables with a lamp, as low lighting will feel cozier and be more practical for reading, etc

Not a pro, but I might put uplights on the beams and highlight the stone, then have another layer of lighting at the six foot and below level - several table lamps giving pools of light where you need them.

You may need the fans to move the air. I would either add downlights and I would certainly add table and floor lamps.

I don't think the drapery panels fit the style of your room.

@maureen I wouldnt say lighting is a big issue, but moreso the current fans are old and outdated. I would like to add light fixtures instead of new fans to add some visual interest & this home has 2 AC units which keep everything cool, so the fans really never get used.

@beverlyfladeziner what curtains would you suggest? I didnt choose velvet or anything heavy because the goal of the curtains was to break up the wood panel walls mostly & i really like them

Do you really need window treatments?

I think I would consider a solution that would be confined to inside the window frame.

• Blinds that match the wood finish
• Shades
• Woven Wood Shades

This one has a very pretty shape, but still has a rustic vibe in your setting. The scale my mock-up may not be accurate.

I think Maureen made a good point..chandeliers are not the most effective choice for adding light to a dark area of your home…choose what lighting will brighten your home..in the way you want…saving the location and style of chandeliers decision until it is established where they will complement and enhance your style…

Also ..with high ceilings …the heat will go up..ceiling fans may be needed to direct the heat downward..in the winter…

@beth h. THANK YOU so much! i can definitely switch the curtains out for lighter ones easy peasy! I definitely like the idea of the greenery & i have a coffee table on the way 😀 Just finding it difficult to brighten the rooms up and offset all the wood so this was very helpful!

How about no curtains? Do they serve a purpose or are they there because, well, windows need curtains? Have you tried removing them to see how much brighter the room would be without them?

@wdccruise when we bought the house these windows had no curtains and it felt unfinished and not cozy. also just was a lot of wood with no contrast so i much prefer having curtains

You might think about something a little more modern such as these fixtures. They tie in well with your furnishings.

It might be a good idea to look at keeping the fans to help circulate the air, then maybe look into adding can lights. Below are two different designs. Notice the chandelier in one and the track lights in the other.
