Looks lovely! I would do a slight off-white. We used Sherwin Williams Medici Ivory and loved it.

whoever your painter is i would ask him when he is priming the room to prime it to the point to where you can only see white walls and that will give you an idea of what it would look like. you may also want to put a small sample of the stain that you will be using on he floor. i live in northport as well and would love to drive by and check out the house.

It is a matter of taste. I would paint it all a nice white so it flows.

White would be my choice classic and timeless, make sure it is a softer white not too cold and contemporary.

I would suggest painting all of the small boxed areas the trim color (white/off white). You could then pretty much paint the large boxed areas any color that would suite your style. I do think a rich/bold color would look great though....like a rich gold, maybe gray/brown, eggplant, etc.. (When I say the larged boxed areas I mean the large wall space between the sconces). Do not leave the ceiling white, be sure to pick a color 1 or two shades lighter than the "wall" color. I can't really tell what the sconces are mounted to in the picture...if it is wood that should be painted the trim color as well.

I would paint the bottom part white and the upper parts a real red red!

i agree with j222b a soft warm white tho. if it is a cold white youll feel like you are sitting in a freezer. i know, i made that mistake. have fun and post pics after.'

I agree with Desiree Davis about painting the smaller areas white/off white like the trim and then use any color you choose in the larger boxes only. I would leave the entire bottom of the wall the trim color. Benjamin Moore Linen White is a nice color to consider for the trim.

Benjamin Moore, white dove is what I used on my trim and doors and it is beautiful. You might like it! It is not cold at all.
