Where to hang curtains with slightly sloped ceiling

I want to hang curtains on two perpendicular walls in my bedroom: over the bed and to the left of the bed. The ceiling is about 5 inches lower on the far wall than the wall over the bed because of this slight slope where the ceiling where it meets the far wall. Question is, can I hang the curtains equal distance from the ceiling, meaning the curtains over the bed will be higher, or should they be equal distance from the tops of the windows, leaving more space above the curtains behind the bed? I want to hang them as high as possible to make the room feel taller and the windows larger.

I would mount the left one as high as possible, and mount the right one the same distance from the top of the window

Agree with Hallett. Mount the sloped side at the ceiling and the other to the same height. You want curtains the same length on both windows. Hem them to just reach the floor. Mount them wider than the windows. Buy enough panels for fullness, 1.5 to 3 times the width of the windows , depending how sheer they are.

I honestly don't think your windows are going to look any higher or any larger doing what people are propsing, and your curtains won't even function if you make them so long they reach the floor..What will mainly happen is that you will call atttention to your sloped ceiling.

Is there any other reason you want curtains instead of shutters? Blackout? Decorative appeal? Your windows are actually at the same height and if you did a fabric window treatment inside the frames it could look very nice (i.e. tie up shades, swags)

If it is possible to turn your bed the other way, you might consider creating a canopy bed would greatly disguise the slope

You could also try to find photos online of people who used sloped ceilings to drape fabric down the ceiling to fall behind the bed against the wall, but most of them don't have a window behind them -- although I don't think it would be difficult to create a parting in the drapes

You could do this will split curtains using a functional curtain rod attached to the cross beam or even the wall if you didn't want to invest in a 4-poster

I see opportunities for a better looking room, that have more to do with lamps, bedding , art. and even an outside mounted ROMAN shade at whatever is the highest point above the window that can be same on BOTH windows.

I cant fathom a reason for panels trapped behind a bed.

Show the entire space from more angles, please: ) add more pictures below in the comments.

There MAY even be a better furniture arrangement but no way to know unless you provide a drawing with every dimension of everything,. walls windows, door entry, closet etc.
