Boy I understand hostas getting eaten! My vinegar and or ammonia drenches took care of the slugs, but I really got hit with cutworms this year! Never had a problem, ever! So now I will have to do an herbicide next spring.

I got decent amount of seeds again for this year but did very few crosses as life got away from me. I do not know whether I should start them early again as I am itching to see...

Thanks i enjoy seeing the results. When you do the breeding all by yourself it’s a lot of work for very little monetary gain. the lab, growers and nurseries make most of the money.

i aim to change that by starting to sell the first tc batch myself. but even then its a five year wait from seedling, to evaluate, to tc, to then growing to having enough large plants to sell.

there are only a small number of people that create the plants they sell.

…excluding the ones that have only a couple of plants of a cultivar they auction off.

in the end …hopefully i can advance what we already have.
