bay window in kitchen at cabin

New cabinets in - lots of white. This bay window is in middle of kitchen — how to bring in some warmth here?
(There will be some kind of light fixture where the wires are — & also, what about that?)

    window treatments

What is the view out the window like? I feel like these kinds of spaces can get easily cluttered with things. I'd go for one or two plants with interesting structure and a pretty pot - a jade perhaps depending on the light. It gives me pause to consider window treatments in such a steamy and splashy kitchen area.

Do you have pics of the rest of the kitchen? Would help with lighting suggestions. What other lights are in the room?

It’s night right now, but window faces slightly south - it’s an octagonal room (island in foreground). Outside the window, on the left is a tree …. Then just view…

I'd do a recessed light in the window area. Don't do anything else to the area until the entire kitchen is complete. Tree and view, but what is the view of - houses, mountains, a street?

Hi. I would add a can light there. You don't want to pull the eye down. Pull the eye up. I don't know what style you like.....but I'd add threes pieces of art that pull your eye up.

Might suggest that you bring warmth to that area with accessories and plants. Someone else mentioned window coverings. I would leave the windows uncovered unless there is need for privacy. It that is the case that would also be a great way to introduce warmth as long as it doesn't get too cutsey and kitchy. Good luck!

Oh, I do love a bay window over the sink!

You need window treatments for warmth -- they can also bring in color and texture. I know, so many online images show "naked windows", but -- in real life -- curtains are more practical. They soften the window and provide privacy; they also prevent your lovely window from becoming a black box at night.

You need plenty of light at the sink, and this is potentially problematic because your lights are set up to be IN THE BAY, which places them about a foot (?) forward of your sink. I'd like to see two small cans on the edges + a good sized pendant in the middle. The pendant should Place them on separate switches so you can use one or both.

Then finish your lovely window area with a small collection of plants.

I like the idea of a triptic of art over the window. I did that in a previous home. I wouldn’t use anything valuable as kitchens can toss around grease and splashes, Maybe herbs, or something reminiscent of your view.

I wouldn't clutter the space with stuff......just leave the view and bring the eye up.

It looks like your planned lighting will light the counter behind your sink rather than the sink itself. I’m wondering how it would look and if it would function better to have recessed lighting in the bay, and a sconce or two mounted on the soffit and lighting the sink. Dimmers for all.

    Depends what is outside.

I like the window. Very nice. You could put some nice hanging plants where you were going to put the light fixture. With the window there is so much natural light already. I would also add a few nice plants to the kitchen counter near the window.
