Joseph is correct. Ask the home inspector why he thought they were not? On the side there that has to be a 6' overhand of course they are structural. Got to wonder what else he thinks he knows about as that info is pretty obviously wrong.

I don't disagree. We're having several issues that the home inspector should have caught. So, aside from the lengthy overhang which indicates structural. What other indications are there? How would I go about supporting them when we remove the deck for foundation fixes? If it helps, I have access to the interior overhangs.

Side note: the previous owners removed and replaced with tree trunks that are ISH. Some columns have either a gap on top or bottom. The columns are nailed and\or screwed into joists, depending on the column.

There are NO brackets or mounting plates. Which is a part of what I was looking at when looking myself.

Also, thank you for your responses. They're 100% appreciated. Are there specific resources you can direct me to as well? The few sources I found online seem to be lacking.

Typically we do diagonal bracing to posts set a foot or so from the foundation.

6' of roofing structure above should be more than sufficient to prove they are structural. Something has to hold the structure up.

I was asking to gain additional information to learn and understand, nothing more.

Screw a header to the bottom of the entabature diagonally across the corners. Put 2'x2' plywood on the dirt, house jacks on the plywood, and 4x4s from the jacks to the bottom of the header ends. Plumb the 4xs and snug 'em with the jacks. Screw it all together. Now the support is way out of your way.
