Need a transition piece between wood floors

Hello. We are opening up a doorway between the kitchen and dining room. Current opening is about 3 feet, will open it up closer to 8 feet.

Dining room floor is oak, original to the house (120 years old). Kitchen flooring is new, again oak, installed maybe 3 years ago.

With the portion of the wall removed I'll have at least 5" of gap between the two floors.

One thought (my leading thought) was to get a 6 or 8" wide oak board (3/4" width), 8 foot long, and lay that perpendicular. Stain as needed to look similar to the floors. Something kind of like below

I am open to opinions though!

Thanks
