It is fine but the power pack (which you have to buy separately) only lasts about 20 minutes. I wish I'd bought a bigger pack. Or a second one. The weight is not too bad but you do have to keep the trigger depressed so it makes ones hand ache.

* When you are buying check the weight with the battery pack attached.

I use the same and have multiple batteries. I also buy the string and wind my own reels. I swing it as I go which reduces the weight. I do wish I kndw how to use a scythe.

We have a bunch of Black and Decker cordless tools that all share the same batteries. I LOVE my cordless string trimmer! It's a million times better than the old gas one I had. I hated that thing, so hard to start and so heavy and powerful that grass was be all over me from head to toe by the time I finished cutting. UGH!

I have heard good things about that Ryobi brand too but have not used it myself.

I love the 20V WORX 12” weed whacker. It’s so easy to change the length for comfort and to turn the head to use for edging.

Black and Decker has a pretty light trimmer. Unfortunately the lighter they are the less powerful they are so they aren't as useful for many jobs around the yard.

I use the Ego line (string trimmer, lawn mower, snow blower, leaf blower) and love them, but if you don't like using Ego, my thought is still: Get something that you will (or might) want to use more of the same line of tools.......That way, you can use the same batteries for them all.

The smaller and lighter the batteries, the less power (or shorter duration) you'll have to use the tool before recharging. It might not be a big deal in your situation, but I mention it for others who are considering cordless garden tools.

I'm able to use it for hours at a time before recharging. It's super quiet. The handle folds in half, if you need to make it more compact for carrying in your car. We have tons of other Dewalt tools, so this gives us an extra battery. I found it cheaper at ACE Hardware.

I also have Black and Decker cordless tools and am very happy. The string trimmer is not heavy, not light, just right (for me) and does a great job. Not sure how long the battery charge actually lasts because I use it off and on,not on one continual big weed wacking job.

I also got B& D weed whacker, hedge trimmer, and blower. Yikes, noisy blower I know— I rake & sweep mostly , because, acorns, & after acorns finish I compost leaves, , but use the blower occasionally as a great way to quickly tidy our decking which is under trees. The hedger is not so much for hedging, but as a tougher weed- getter, kind like a scythe, gives a cleaner haircut to some groundcovers & cuts through light weedy brush & ornamental grasses.

I tried researching different brands & just got overwhelmed. I hefted several in stores and this one was light. Then added the other tools for same batteries/ charger plugged in in garage.

Admittedly we also have a yard guy who mows & edges in front but does not do much if anything else, especially not in the “ wilder “ area of property.

I knew I would only use ones that were lightweight and easy. I sometimes have to carry up & down stone steps or inclines to get to where I want to do stuff. I don’t need to work in long stretches, so battery doesn’t even usually run out but I have 3.

I have a Worx battery powered weed eater and like it so much more than a gas trimmer. It's so much easier to turn on , and is light enough and quiet. However the spools of line are small and so I either run out of battery power or line before I'm done. Still, I am pretty happy with it. Also have a Worx battery powered mower which I love for being light weight, doing the job, easy to start, and maneuverable. Have a Worx chainsaw , jawsaw, and hedge trimmer. Also a leaf blower but the blower does not do the job well.

I have a Black and Decker. I have three batteries also. They all fit my weed eater and hedge trimmer.

I have a little Ryobi. My battery only lasts around 20 minutes or so, so the best advice I can offer is to ensure you have at least one spare battery. If weight is an issue, do check with the battery pack in place because some tools have really heavy battery packs but at least offer various sizes (Metabo, for example). I do have a scythe and unless you love blisters, I honestly see no reason why not to make use of new available technology. My scythe blade is a metre in length - have lost count of the innocent saplings and perennials which have met an early beheading from my enthusiastic scything...but, otoh, after an idiot borrowed my brushcutter, and broke it ($700!!!) I was left with only hand tools and the annual party in the woods, imminent. Cheap, silent and effective, if a bit lethal.

I have a 20v Worx, also. I bought a combo several years ago with the trimmer, blower, two batteries and a charger. I liked the trimmer when I was still able to use it.

I have Worx cordless rechargeable tools as well - mower, blower, pole saw and string trimmer - all can share batteries. The trimmer is perfect for me, since it is a lot lighter and more compact than anything else I've used. The refill spools are tiny, but seem to last me a long time, but then our yard isn't that big. I got a bunch of refills in bulk from ebay for just a dollar or 2 each.

Another vote for Black and Decker batttery string trimmers. Very lightweight. Just buy and extra battery if you have a lot of trimming to do.

I'm still waiting for BD to come up with a cordless vacuum, without the blower, just the vacuum with the bag attached. I already have their small cordless blower and LOVE it. Anyway, I've done research online for the cordless vacuums, not great reviews on most i.e. not enough power to really suck up bunches of leaves at a time. Esp. not wet leaves. So, still waiting.

The guys at the TORO mower place where I have my mowers' maint. done, said Stihl has a cordless vacuum but it's on back order. Wondering if it's Stihl if it would have some weight to it as a lot their tools are for commercial outfits. And I don't want a big machine, preferably the same size as BD cordless blower.

I have a Stihl blower, Schoolhouse. Most of the weight is the backpack battery but it is comfortable to wear while the blower handles well. I generally use Stihl or Husquevarna kit.
