It's really up to you. If you desire a Little Giant set and they are cheaper than the brand new WXD160 set then get the Little Giants (if you'll really enjoy and take pride in them).

They will need repairs sooner than the brand new WXD160's but Miele's are made to last way longer in general.

Little Giants are Professional machines and built to withstand more torture.

If you're heart is set on the Little Giant's then get them...save your money for repairs and maybe a future Miele set when the life of the Little Giant's is exhausted.

Is it possible for an owner to find out how many hours are on the machine or is a repair technician needed for that?

I wouldn’t buy used for reasons explained above. It is the hours of use not the years that counts. I think miele machines have an internal clock that registers the hours of use but don’t know details. Worth looking into it if you are interested to buy.

The owner should be able to see the operating hours in the settings menu.

All Miele units have an hour meter.

for washers with a display, turn the unit on, open the door, hold the start button while closing the door. once door is shut then press the start button three times and hold it down on the third press until the start button begins flashing then release the button.

This display will then be in service mode. scroll doen to operatong hours and select that option. The number of hours will be displayed. Acknowledge the reading or scroll down and choose the ”back” option.

Scroll down and choose exit. DO NOT change any other options. It is easy to mess up your washer by just ”looking” through the other options in the seevice menu. Miele’s firmware is somewhat universal so there may be options present for features your model does not have, etc etc,
