Without seeing the entire space, some of these ideas may not work. In general though, a rug, lighting, centrepiece, window and wall treatments define spaces/warm them up.

If the seating on the left can be moved down a bit, you could add large art or mirror or even better storage/art to visually separate the LR and DR, but it will also balance that wall due to the window.

You could test dining table’s placement by a few inches, so maybe hold off adding a chandelier - may need an electrician and repairing the ceiling, but will be worth it. Maybe this type of fixture would solve that.

Show the whole space! Why is the table crammed so near the wall?

You have no rug, nothing on the windows, nothing on the table.....and no light above it - you haven't done these things yet, nor purchased anything.

You want it to relate to an adjacent sitting area we can't see. You don't have and inspo picture of a dining/living area you love! Start there..........as we do not read minds: )

Hi, seeing a picture of the living room area on the left would help with some suggestions. It would also give us a better of idea about your style and what pieces you might like. You should start by looking at some inspiration pics to see what you like, getting a chandelier first would be my suggestion depending on your budget and everything it can be a very important piece, from there you can choose a rug, from what I see in this picture the furniture is simple and neutral you can keep the same feeling for the rug or get a little bit of color in this space, if not color I would suggest some pattern but definitely look at chandeliers first. It's a long table so a rectangular chandelier would look nice to go along with the dining table. Curtains will also warm up the place.

If this space is open to the kitchen we need to see the kitchen too. If you have pendants over an island you can take some clues from them when selecting a chandelier. If you just moved in and don't like the pendants, replace them at the same time as you install the chandelier. Some people don't like rugs under their tables, but the light table on the very dark floor needs something to bring them together.

Those rich abstract paintings breathe so much personality into this mostly white space.
