I think the second one looks better with the appliance white, if that is what your other samples are on.

I like the second one better. I think the veining makes it prettier. I also think it would do a better job of hiding any stains that might develop over time.

I feel like this room might be an extension of the kitchen. Can you see one room from the other? If so, you would at least want them to harmonize. For example, if the cabinetry is the same the counter could be a second cousin of the kitchen; if the cabinets are different the countertops should be closer. All that being said, I like #2.

I also like # 2. For my tastes it would be too much plain white if you went with # 1. . The veining gives it more interest and pizazz.

Oh I think the laundry/pantry will be a lovely counterpoint to the kitchen. I vote #2 again; I think the white might feel too modern.
