I like these too w/the kitchen design, but they don't work w/the dining room. in fact, that yellow light w/the dark brown metal seems at odds w/the more black/white/silver theme of the kitchen

I understand the lighting, but in a kitchen you want 3500-4000K lighting. otherwise, just break out the candles!

Just coordinate with the light you have; doesn't have to "match." Put on a dimmer, for sure, so you can turn them down for entertaining!

What's important to me is not to have clear glass. Not just because I don't like to clean it but also it hurts my eyes at close range.

I don't think they need to match at all. You should go with what looks best for your kitchen and island.

For a moody feeling and also good taxk lighting, I think simple black or aged brass cylinders could be a chic choice
