First I would lighten the walls. Pick something that complements the floor. (hopefully somebody on here with good knowledge of paint colors will chime in). Then get a runner for in front of the console table. That will create the illusion of an entry. Nothing too busy as your floors are bossy. Get a rug for the main living area - large enough that the front 1/3 of the sofa and loveseat are on it. Pull the loveseat off the wall closer to the sofa. It looks like there is a TV niche over the FP but I would get a TV console for the right side of the FP and put the TV there. Big art to fill the niche. Once rug and wall color is chosen then think about curtains. Hang the rods close to the ceiling and at least 6" wider on each side of the window (12" wider than the window width). Make sure the curtain panels you choose are 2.5x the window width.

MY advice id firsr take everything out that is not a must . That includes kids stuff , dog crat e and all the table sna nd other units that are holding stuff. You need actual lighting not a fan light so end tables and lamps for sure . The measurements are helpful but we need a to scale floor plan showing every window, doorway and where those lead . All the measurements clearly marked and all the funiture measurements too. As for wall color that comes later after you figur eout what to keep in the space .If that is your only child thye look big enought to have all that play stuff in their room and can bring things out and put them back as they play. Prety sure the dog crate can find a better home too.I disliek gallery walls and for sure if they are family photos IMO they do not belong in more public places but a hallways leading to bedrooms is a great place to do thoe matching frames. . So post the floor plan here on graph paper in jpeg format all the info clearly marked and post here in a comment DO NOT start another post.

I would try the sofa and loveseat facing each other perpendicular to the fireplace with a coffee table in between.

You could add one or two side chairs to the arrangement.

I agree about a large rug for the seating and to define the living space.
