Dining room dilema

Hi! I need some advice and decor ideas for my dining room area. I want to buy new chairs. Eliminate the furniture that is in the back of the table, but I don’t know what to do here. I’m really not that good in this department 😂

What is your budget range per chair?

Do you intend to remove the black shelves and their contents? Or replace them with another display? You have some interesting things to display.

How about some type of ghost chair?

Second request of the day: PLEASE SHOW ALL FOUR WALLS OF THE ENTIRE SPACE. Good design isn't about just one element like your chairs but has to relate to everything else.

Apple_pie_order I intend to remove the black shelves and their contents. My budget for the chairs will be around $100-$200 per chair

World Market has several upholstered round-back chairs that would echo the shape of your bar chairs. https://www.worldmarket.com/c/furniture/dining-room-furniture/dining-chairs/?store=store35

I like the chairs suggestions and replacing the tall shelving unit with a console or sideboard.

Your two current chairs have a slim profile (which is good for the space size) and neutral (similar to your other furnishings). Are you replacing them because you want a different chair profile or to add chairs with color or a wood tone?

Do you want to put art (or a mirror if a nice view) over the console/sideboard?

A new light fixture such as a small chandelier would look great over the table. Avoid adding a rug so it doesn’t interfere with the counter chairs moving in-out.

housegal200 Thank you so much for the suggestions. I have a question. Do you mean adding two chairs to the living room area, change dining table and have only two dining chairs? I’m going to send you another picture of the area because I’ve already have a mirror in place on a wall that has been a problem decorating 😂

Design Fan I want different chairs and see if I can add two more. I would prefer art over the console/sideboard.

Again, it would have helped to see that third photo. THIS IS WHY DESIGN DILEMMA PEOPLE MUST SUBMIT PHOTOS OF THE ENTIRE SPACE FROM ALL FOUR WALLS. That huge mirror is too oversized for your space. Look at the reflection. It is showing all the stuff in the kitchen and on the counters. That mirror should be removed since it's in the walkway to and from the kitchen. What is that white structure sticking out near the mirror? Why is that there?

Have a plan, with measurement,s for what you will add or remove. Do you need four chairs? If so, make sure they have low backs, are up on legs, and fit around the table without crowding. The base of your current table is too big. That's why a tulip table is good for small spaces--slim base. Make sure you measure out table diameter and depth of a possible sideboard--not much deeper than your display shelves so people have room to push out chairs, walk in and out of the room. Make a drawing with measurements.

That white structure is speakers that my husband bought and I’m not liking them 😂. Anyway, what do you recommend for that wall?

It is hard to tell from your photos without a floor plan whether there is enough room for 4 dining chairs.

Consider armless chairs so they can be pushed in. Perhaps 2 chairs can be stored until needed.

Is there space to move the sectional further towards the windows to add some space to the dining area?

Design Fan. I don’t have spa e to move the sectional further

You have a lot of hard and/or shiny surfaces - glass, tile floor, leather sofa. I would try to balance that out by getting chairs that a wood so they add more texture and softness to the space and connect the coffee table to the living space. I like the ones that Housegal posted in the third picture down.
