In the 10 yrs I've had my air plants, I've never soaked them. It seems illogical to me to do that for any plant that naturally puts itself so far away from where it could possibly be under water.

I just spray them with a spray bottle until they are wet. They are on the trunks of trees, like they would be where hardy. When I water the pots of the trees, I dribble a little water on The Tills too because that water has fertilizer in it. When the sky cooperates, I put rain water on them as much as possible.

I also use distilled or rainwater on the Tillys. They have very effective cuticle, and stomata. Soaking them in pure water is not going to hurt.

Day to day, I mist mine, but when I find a dessicated one it gets a soak. Shorter soaks are best. One can do it repeatedly, if needed. They danger with soaking is forgetting it’s in the water and leaving it too long.

I am agnostic on fertilizer in the soak water; I know good growers who do it. I only mist with the food.

Be sure you use a fertilzer made for bromeliads - it should have no boron, and no urea.

I was also wondering if anyone could tell me if these airplants look like theyre post bloom fading or pre bloom blushing. I bought them with the pink tips which is why im unsure. Only had them a few days. Im thinking they may have already bloomed but I don't notice any pups growing. Do they still have a chance to bud pups?

If you don't see a fading flower stalk and/or a central floral mass, I suspect they haven't' bloomed yet. Where do you think it would have gone ? :)
