IMO SZ over rated over priced so no help there but I do know appliance delivery is all over the map still. How did you actually finalize and do the rest of the design without a fridge? I will never design a kitchen until all applainces are on hand and for sure now.

99.9% of those here who actually own, or have owned SZ, have been very happy with their fridges!

People design kitchens based on published manufacturer specifications all the time. Patricia are you saying you don't start the design until all the appliances are sitting in the clients garage? Having the specs worked just fine for the 2 excellent kitchen designers I have worked with.

@sfandrew51, sorry you are having these issues. We built during covid and our 42" SZ french door and other Miele and Wolf appliances arrived at the site about 11 months after they were ordered. Do you have a spare fridge in the garage that you can use? Also try asking the appliance store for a loaner, as that worked for some friends who were waiting for the Cafe line fridge during covid.

We had the same experience and waited more than a year and a half (I can't recall the exact dates off the top of my head). It was just delivered two weeks ago which was actually sooner than the most recent projected date they gave us. They just call one day and said it was ready! We do not have the french door model but did want an ice maker and water dispenser which caused an additional delay.

K Maria... had we known I would have chosen another brand. I do have a 'basement' fridge to use in the meantime but just so disappointed in Sub Zero's ability to deliver.

We ordered ours in September 2022 and it arrived in September 2023 - an entire year. (Was originally promised for delivery 7/23.). We are still waiting for the dairy compartments to arrive!

I ordered a SZ 42” French door on Oct 2022 and was told it would be 1 yr. SZ pushed the date out to March 2024 and now we’re being told May 2024. That’s 19 months!!!!
Anybody know what is the hold up now??

We ordered a classic SZ fridge in Oct 2021 and received it in December 2022. I would think it would be faster now post covid. Sorry about the delay but I think it will be worth it for you. We decided on a SZ because our old kitchen had a 1984 SZ that was still working well. Maybe people used to be able to install a kitchen after appliances were there, but I don't think that really happens anymore. That would have caused a 12-month delay on our construction! Just double check the measurements -- trust but verify. :)

Sub zero has exacting quality standards, it is worth the wait.

While they do assemble in the USA? Plenty of parts, computer chips come from other places.

The chip shortage doesn’t even start to explain the Sub-Zero problem. Largely the appliance chip shortage ended a year ago. The current chip shortage is only for new chip design. It takes a pretty long time to retool for a new chip (about six months), so traditionally a large portion if a factory will be offline for production because of retooling for new chip design. Currently, there is a backlog for new chip design, but there really isn’t a shortage for existing chips.

Sub-Zero is having capacity problems. They are taking deposits for orders they can’t deliver in a reasonable amount of time. They are a good product but that is a suspect practice.

There's a lot of cooling available in the wait - saleable when you get yours.

You wait. Because if the product were not worth waiting for, not so incredibly reputable with regards to quality , longevity all? ? It would be at your door in a week.

I read people are waiting for the dairy compartment on the SZ 42” french door classic fridge. Mine is being delivered this week. Where is the dairy compartment located so I will know if I received it or not? TY!
