I forgot to mention that is a rug from another house, it seems too big for the room (do you thinks so?) and we were thinking of updating the rug too. So looking for ideas on pulling it all together

I think your instinct to go legless on the coffee table is right. This is a beauty from Wayfair. The length is 59” - my mock-up is probably not accurate.

I had book marked something very similar, but was thinking of staying lighter in color, but not sure if the lighter wood would still work with the couch.

Love the color of your chairs. Is it too tight if you place the couch facing the FP with the chairs flanking the FP? I like the size of the rug. Too many times on this site the rugs are too small.

Jck910 the room is 11’4” in that direction and about 12’4 in the other. We are trying the couch where it is to create separation between the open floor plan, the dining and kitchen are open behind it. Also the entry way from the front door is right there and you would walk into the back of the couch. But we could try it out at some point. We have also tried the couch by the window and the chairs by Dinning, but it felt cluttered with the dinning chairs and these chairs to me and I sort of like the couch breaking up the space. Open to ideas

I actually like the rug a lot, and think the size is good in the room. Agree that often rugs are too small- not so here! FWIW, I live in a 1914 Oakland Craftsman, and my sofa is facing the fireplace. Recently I purchased a smaller MCM vintage curved sofa that I placed between the living and dining rooms (the original interior walls are intact). I have low MCM bookcases under the windows, two vintage upholstered chairs in front of the bookcases, and a vintage-ish glass coffee table that doesn’t have a lot of “visual weight”, and doesn’t hide the Oriental rug underneath. I think a glass or wood coffee table with curves would look nice with the squared edges of your living room furniture. For me, the coffee tables you show here are a bit bulky. These photos are not the best (taken a while ago-it’s too dark to take more right now), but perhaps will be helpful. The glass coffee table has a tray on it in the photos.

Thanks for the comment, looks really nice and welcoming- is your room wider than ours? We only have 11’4” facing the fireplace- Seems larger with all that you have been able to add to it. I like that you added the smaller sofa to separate the rooms even more.

I wish we had not opened up the kitchen Dinning and kitchen as much as we did!

Our room may be wider than yours, but shares a similar classic California bungalow setup; you’re lucky to have built ins next to your fireplace. We bought the coffee table pre-kids, and they’re now 31 and 27; no coffee table mishaps, I’m happy to say.

I like your couch and chairs. I like your rug, but not in that room. I love ffpalms suggested coffee table, and I don't like the curtains. Maybe medium grey velvet curtains, and a more modern rug to match your furniture.

I asked about the rug because if your PB Thalia rug sheds excessively like mine does, replacing it is a great idea. The Thalia rug colors (even with the scattered gold tones) don’t seem warm enough to complement your furniture. It’s not bad, I just think you could do better.

Yeah the curtains are not working, I agree.

As for the rug shedding, we have not had that issue.

So y’all think a warmer rug with more color? We think the rug needs at least some texture or pattern b/c everything else is so flat.

The rug is from Arhaus, and it is pricey. If you aren't in a hurry, you can haunt their Specials - Last Chance Items and see if it comes up there at a good price. I've gotten some good deals there.

That one is nice, it matches our natural oak floors, you think it will look nice with the color leather we have? Only concern I’ve had with wood is if it seems to matchy matchy. But my instincts and natural style really draw me to this
