Rug Size/Placement in Small Living Room?

Hi, I'm in the midst of furnishing our downstairs family room, and can't decide on what size rug to purchase. The sketch shows room layout and dimensions. Furniture has been bought but not yet arrived. The pic shows current state. I read many Houzz discussions on rugs as well as googling, and all seem to say the rug needs to cover entire seating area with 1-2 feet extending beyond the couch. However, due to this family room's small size, seems I can't achieve that. Do you think a 6'x9' rug as shown in the sketch is the best alternative? Thank you.

I would keep that one...looks fine. You could try an 8 x 10 rug.

You want at least the front feet of your couch on the rug.

Look carefully at Beverly’s post. You don’t need the entire couch on the rug, or you can have everything on the rug. She’s also showing you different rug sizes that work with different pieces of furniture.

Use painter’s tape to plot out a size you think you want before buying anything.
