Stainless. You're already buying a new range and dishwasher. Add the fridge, ( microwave ) please. Or add a picture and show me a reason not to do that. I think you already answered your own question, anyway.

Several thoughts:

- I'm not sure what a "class area" is, but I'd be more likely to rent /pay more rent if the appliances matched.

- I would not replace the refrigerator just for looks -- so I'd stick with white.

- The concept of "dated" is just wrong. Either an item works in your space, or it doesn't.

The whites will never match so IMO all stainless if this is such a classy area spring for the stainless for the fridge and MW

I wish I could have gotten the appliances I wanted in white, but they didn't come in white.

Focus on the appliances you want, not the finish/colour they come in. If you don't like the look, there are lots of options to cover it (from paint to skins) - this is the magnetic skin I bought for the front of my dishwasher.

I prefer stainless, but if white works in the space then that's fine too. If you have the funds to match them all, I would.

I once saw a magnetic skin of han solo frozen in carbonite.

Focus on what the renters need/want if that's an actual concern.

If the appliances are around the same age, then there’s a good chance the fridge isn’t too far behind in needing to be replaced. Do you want to be stuck with white because you replaced the other two in white? Personally I’d do the fridge now and put the white one on marketplace to offset a few bucks. All new appliances will be a draw, and most people prefer stainless these days, for better or for worse.

Edited because now I see you have dark woodwork. My appliances in a class area are white but so are my upper cabinets. If you keep the dark wood---go with stainless. You could paint the frige. Or you could think of me: I waited about 5 years for my black oven to die so I could replace it with white and have a matchy matchy kitchen.

Interesting point. There are definitely people (like me!) who are over SS, but personally I think there’s a difference between cheap white appliances and upscale white appliances. The same can be said for SS of course, but to me at budget levels SS still looks like a bit of an upgrade, and I think most will view it like that. What we’re seeing in the now-added picture are builder grade appliances which I’d choose to swap out especially because of the cabinet color.

I prefer choosing appliances to enhance cabinetry and coordinate with everything else: white appliances with white cabinetry, black appliances with black or grainy wood cabinetry in medium to dark stains, and stainless steel to go with beiges, taupes, and pastels. I say go with black with your current cabinets. Otherwise go with stainless to impress.

With the photo posted and spending your money I think stainless steel will upgrade the kitchen enough to be worth it. The white appliances with the brown stain look very 90’s builder.

White is just plain HIDEOUS with dark

cabinetry. Sorry to be blunt, but it sticks out like sore thumb, and is just what you'd get in a low end rental. Cough up the cash : )

If you have a garage or a basement in the home, you might consider placing the fridge there for your renters to use. Just a thought. Microwaves have short lives. Consider replacing the one that you have with a small, portable one that you tuck into a shelf in your peninsula or island. Easier to replace when it goes bad. I would do stainless everything. And donate any appliances that still have life in them to Habitat for Humanity if you choose not to keep them
