Please help me finish great room

We just moved in to our new lake home in Minnesota. I got new furniture but I need help with pulling it all together. Rugs, tables and we’d like to incorporate a tv but the mantle is so high. Please let me know if you have any advice.

I was thinking of adding a black chest like this to the right of the fireplace with tv mounted on wall above. Then perhaps adding a black hutch on the left side of the fireplace for balance. Maybe a round table between the swivel chairs. And a square table between the two sofas.

Maybe a hutch like this? I have about 54 inches to work with on each side of the fireplace.

I am still looking to find large vertical artwork I love to go over the mantle.

The furniture is neutral and blends into the floor so I would get a rug large enough for the furniture to all sit on it. I would put matching consoles on the sides of the FP, due to the mantle being a bit wider than the stone I don't think a hutch would work. Art should be the size and shape of the firebox. Bring the green from the kitchen into this space.

Jck910 thank you for your comments! Do you have advice on whether to go light or dark with the rug?

I would go medium dark - like the throw on the sofa. Actually I like those colors with the furniture.

    Beautiful room!

Please post a photo of the fireplace wall straight on and capture the full wall. What are the widths of the wall space on each side of the fireplace?

I think your room would look great with darker/black elements to balance all the light furniture and floors. As suggested, a dark cabinet, console with TV over it, rug, etc.

Consider adding a complementary rug under the dining table.

Consider large framed photography in black/white/sepia for over the mantle. Here are some art examples but there is so much available so pick something that ”speaks” to you and is appropriately sized:

Here is the space before furniture. I’m not there now to take a picture. There are 54 inches at the base of the fireplace on each side.

I don’t have many walls for artwork. So I was thinking of putting large artwork over the mantle and in my entryway (instead of a mirror). Maybe something like the picture below either above the mantle or in the entryway. See pic below of entry sideboard. I have sconces yet to be installed on that wall.

Also, the hutch below is the same line as the RH chest I was thinking of putting below the tv. For some reason I feel like I need something on both sides of the fireplace. And if I match the chests I don’t know what I’d do over the chest on the left. Wouldn’t an art piece compete with that over the mantle?

    What a lovely space!

I agree to not put it over the fireplace. I like JCk’s idea of consoles. You can add an arm to TV so it can be pulled and twisted forward.

I wouldn't put art on the stone.
