It looks like different products. So this was a patch job, not a new install? Some products come in different colors (light gray, dark gray, etc) and maybe you got the wrong one?

I don't understand , did you lay all of them out first to make sure and did you check the boxes to see if all one "dye lot" I do agree those look odd next to the rest but if you arranged them one way and tey were installed another then you need a redo but did you not notice this before grouting ?As for the marble changing that is not going to happen those patches look like one box was off . I have no idea where you got the tiles I personally would never use those for a bathroom floor but that is not the issue here . Do you have the boxes ? They really look like they are not the same tile .

They won't blend over time unless they all get really dirty. If you can't get it fixed (by replacing some of the tile), a small runner will camouflage it. It is very pretty, aside from the mismatch. Is the shower floor better?

This was a new install using all the same product from floor and decor, laid out by one of the contractor’s workers. I naively thought that post- grouting they would look more blended but clearly you can still see the contrast between the light and majority darker tiles. The shower floor looks perfectly even as does the side of the floor with the vanity/toilet. Unfortunately the exposed side of the floor has the patchy-looking job. I do take responsibility for not speaking up before they laid them out to make sure the installer properly selects the tiles as we do have extra boxes. Just wanted to see if there was anything that could be done about it now.

What was suggested above is that you may not have all the same product: another customer may have mixed them within a box and then returned them. The store didn't check, just resealed the boxes and sold them to you.

I agree that it looks like two different types of tile. One is more gray with dark accents, the other is lighter and more blended.

I had the same problem with products bought from HD. I bought 2 extra boxes of tile, unpacked it all and put the tiles that were the wrong color back into the 2 extra boxes and returned it.

In addition to being a different color, the darker ones look honed and the lighter ones look polished.

What kind of magical thinking would bring you to conclude that grout would somehow change the appearance of the mismatched stone tiles????

Professionals know the shortcomings of dealing with products that come from 3rd World countries. We all overbuy for the jobs by 20% or more, check for color and quality, and return what we don't need. I could NEVER live with a floor that looked that bad. It's a tear up IMO.

Floor and Decor is NOT a good source for tile. It's seconds, mixed lots, overruns, or overseas sourced cheap stuff. Every tile professional knows this. If you are working with someone who sent you there, they are clueless. They are double clueless and not a professional to proceed to the grout phase. If he has collected a check, you will not see him back.

DeWayne; is this the case with all sorts of tile? I just bought tile there, but it was not marble? Where do you go to buy tile?

I would put a nice rug in there, you won't be able to see it with a run there. I would just make sure to keep it sealed. Because I read that the marble will stain and with it being in the bathroom and on the floor, it's more likely. And so you should just wait and maybe in a several years you can spend money to make changes if you want...At least then it's not a waste right now.

Sealant will not stop staining, the purpose is to slow it down so you have a bit more time to clean it. Marble is marble at the end of the day.

With places like F&D you just need to be sure of what you are purchasing, Look at the lot numbers, double check the quality - flatness, edge finishes, etc. They do have lots that others may jave rejected. They may have closeout. Always make sure you have more than enough to start as well as you may never see it again.

My best advice is to tear it all out and put in new tiles. It won't blend over time and since your doing the work now might as well do it right and be happy with the finished product.

Floor and Decor is seconds, overstocks, and random Asian factories with low quality control. Don't do F&D. A reputable tile pro will send you to his wholesale sources. And would refuse the job is you tried to supply F&D or box store tile.
