Now that season is in full swing in SW FL, there will be lots of local art shows with very talented artists. You might want to check on line. I just googled this one, but there are a few others that tour most of the SW FL cities.

I like the single painting if you don’t have another single big painting in the immediate space.

I like to visualize landscape and seascape paintings as a window with a view. It depends on how your wall and house is oriented as to whether that imaginary view will work for you. Right now, I am looking at a painting of a snow-covered pathway through the woods. There’s no snow here, but it looks like a view I have seen before. If there were snow here, it might look like that on the other side of the wall.

Chispa had a good suggestion about going to local art shows. Years ago, I loved going to the art shows in Southeast Florida. I picked up some beautiful paintings that I still display. Seascapes were especially plentiful. The season started with Coconut Grove in Miami in February and moved up the east coast, about one every month or so. My favorite festival was in Deerfield Beach - not too big, but really great art. I suppose it’s all different now, but I would try to find popular art festivals within a 2-3 hour drive, and make a day of it. When you see something you love in person at an art show, you’ll have no doubt that you have to have it. If you like it but don’t love it enough to pay for original art, get a canvas print to hold you over. But if it’s something you will look at ALL THE TIME in your home, it’s worth the investment to get something of high quality that you love.

Thanks Kelli-there’s actually a courtyard with the pool outside those door walls. I’ll try to get a picture and post it. There is not another big painting or any art hung anywhere. My brother has only lived there about three weeks, so we’re just starting the process of trying to find art that works- he did not have big walls in his last place and he wants to do a different field in this place.
I agree with everything you say about the art-it’s just getting the time. I am going down for three weeks in January so hopefully we can visit a few. Thanks so much for your help.

I love the idea of local artists! Someone you have met - that would be great! You can still incorporate that into a gallery along with personal photos, black and whites etc.

I do love those large pieces as well - maybe do that over the sofa and some personal items by the dining table or vice versa.

Then for the dining room we are going to a Naples art fair going on while I’m there and see if we can get something for the dining room. Thanks so much for your help.!!
