Many of the "Teas" can be encouraged to have stronger stems by pruning out all but the strongest growth. The thinner and wispier the growth, the greater the potential for thinner, weaker peduncles which will then "nod" or hang their heads. Teas don't generally like to be pruned hard, but thinning out the weaker, thinner growth will result in stronger, thicker shoots which will, in turn, produce stronger stems which will hold the blooms more upright and "HT-like". You'll find those with naturally stronger peduncles are literally more HT in character. Tea X HP or the reverse, created HTs. The HP genes resulted in the stronger, thicker peduncles. When I allow my Teas to grow larger, more what they are genetically programmed to be, I get more of the weaker, thinner peduncles and more "nodding" blooms. By thinning out more of that wispier growth, thicker, stronger shoots are encouraged with correspondingly stronger stems and more upright blooms. Is the method perfect? Nope, but it works much of the time.

Take a look at Baronne Henriette Snoy. I was thinking of trying that one next year for the same reason.

If you don't mind a Tea that was introduced as a China, Ducher keeps it's blooms mostly upright, if I remember correctly, and have a nice scent.

I had Nancy Lee for a short while, too. That one is classified by some as a Tea. The flowers were very much like Alliance Franco Russe, but in pink, very pretty, and upright.

Consider... 'Duchesse de Brabant'..

'Etoile de Lyon'? Luscious blooms. Short stems, though.
