Kitchen counter and backsplash

I just read a similar discussion where someone thought their counter and backsplash were too busy. Please give me your opinion of this combination. Our cabinets will be painted in a greyish white and our appliances are black.

IMO, it's a bit busy ... I think a very light blue/gray subway tile would look nice, or a large-sized white subway tile

What color are your cabinets? I like your choices but if your cabinets are busy and dark it might be overwhelming. I am Not a designer. And I could not decide on a backsplash so I still do not have one.

I'm having my cabinets painted a white that has a tint of grey in it to balance out my black appliances. The island will be painted black. Floor is white too.

If you love the splash back I'd choose a light grey granite counter top. Your stone looks a bit pink. But could be just the photo.

There is some pink in some of the stone, good eye. But not very much and I hoped being under the counters it wouldn't show through. So either a plain counter or a plainer backsplash but not both??

I think it is a good choice. Here is a photo of a kitchen we did with a light grey cabinets and somewhat busy backsplash and it looks good.

Thank you RH Kitchen and Bath. Yours works because the colors and tones are the same.

I would go with a monochromatic color combo on the glass tile, with subtle variety in materials and textures. http://www.icanceramic.com/images/products/glass-stone-mosaics/mini-brick/vanilla.jpg just an example. But it can work, but make sure that both elements don't have too much going on, allow one to shine and the other to enhance

    Too busy!

I think it's too busy. I think the backsplash choice (even though beautiful) will look dated first, so swap it for something classic like subway tiles.

    I like it a lot.

Well seems like most people think its too busy, so I'm heading back to the store! I will still take any and all suggestions and thank you to everyone who commented.

Hi. I am using a similar backsplash in a powder room and felt that the granite was too busy, going with a solid color countertop

    Hi again ems2409,
I'm also thinking costs as well. If you have already budgeted for the splash back and a stone counter, then thats your budget. I think your splash back mixed glass, stone and ceramic is very nice and with a light grey stone counter top with the lighter grey cabinetry you would have a very light attractive kitchen. However if your super keen on the stone countertop you show in the pic, why not go with a light stone grey glass splash back. I don't know the length of wall but glass is very easy to clean and would be modern and chic. The splash back you show now would be very busy if covering a large space. You can use it as a trim between larger (150mm) plain tiles to tone it down but still use it.

love your choice of tile for the backsplash. the granite for the counter is too busy. if you can obtain one using a solid colour chosen from the backsplash would be perfect.
consider placing the backsplash tiles vertical rather than horizontal for drama and effect. let the backsplash flow into the counter.

Keep the backsplash, and use a white quartz counter.....it will look terrific!
