We're going to ask to see the space. Accent walls can work if done well, or look like you ran out of one color paint. It's good to echo the color in your furnishings, but you might want a deeper shade of the color for the wall.

Do you have or are you planning for any recessed/led wafers in the ceiling? I can't tell if there are any in the photo. If you don't have any, please consider adding them. I'm a quilter whose sewing room is very similar. It was the darkest room in the house, with just a single center fixture. Recently added a bunch of led wafers and the difference in lighting is phenomenal. Now I can cut and sew easily on the darkest days and nights. My sewing room is a very pale cream color.

Which wall are you planning to accent? If you match your lamps, they won’t stand out against the wall. Do think about what else is in the room. Orange - such as leather or wood - looks good with teal. White will be highlighted with it. Maybe put together a mood board with pictures of your furnishings, carpet, lamps, etc. to see how they all work together. I would also add some recessed lighting in the room, as well as task lighting.

Agree you should consider led ceiling lights as well as task lighting. Here's a cute sewing area in aqua but the walls are all one shade and the color comes with furnishings. Your first project can be to make some pretty drapes. You can hang them wide so they don't block the light when open.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and pictures. I will have 12 LED recessed lights when it is completed, so hopefully no shadows. Drywall is almost complete except for sanding. These are the lamps, although the color is always deceiving on a computer. They are Safavieh Amy Gourd Glass lamps. As for the accent wall, I am considering the far wall with the double window. (the room picture is in this thread) .

I don't mind accent walls when they make sense. In a small sewing room I am not sure I understand the purpose of the accent wall. I would probably choose a wall color that complements the lamps. Maybe use a light gray blue green like BM Healing Aloe or Quiet Moments or SW Sea Salt or Comfort Gray.

That sounds like a good idea to me.

I also sew alot and find LED 4000K is awesome for keeping colors true but I need task light and have it in 3 spots . One at the sewing machine one where I store fabric and one overhead and not right in the ceiling but hanging like a cahndelier right above my cutting table I have just one chair and end table and lamp where I take a break but even that lamp is LED 4000K To me a sewing room needs awesome lighting to function and pots lights are great but if up in a high ceiling not the best.

Maybe consider the ceiling for the subtle accent color.

Regarding lamps, good lighting is such a big consideration in a sewing room.

I don't sew, but if I did, working with all different colored fabrics makes me think a neutral color on the walls would work the best....one that won't influence other colors. Try B.M. Collingwood...a versatile off white.

Maybe a tangled ball of thread pendant lamp?

Or a task light.
