Kraftmaid WICKER cabinet stain

Has anyone tried Kraftmaids newer wood stain WICKER on maple? If so, can you share pics? I can't find example but this is my inspiration kitchen. All I've seen is "barley"

Does anyone have a photo of the Wicker stain on Maple, even if it's just a sample cabinet? Everywhere seems to have it on quartersawn oak but not Maple. Thanks!

We love Wicker on Maple. It’s soft but not too gray or yellow and not too farmhouse. Our design style for this house was “cozy retreat”.

LOVE this. this really helps make my decision - thank you!!!

We ordered Wicker on Maple KM as well. Thank you for the pics!! Yours turned out so beautiful!

Carrie what countertops did you go with? Your kitchen is beautiful

  • last year

It’s Monte Cristo granite. It can look very different depending on the slab, but this one had beautiful golden specks and deep crystal-like parts you can see into like a frozen lake, we love it!

Carrie, Your kitchen is beautiful. What type of floors do you have and how are they finished/stained? Also, are you still happy with the cabinets?

  • last year

Thanks Bob! We are loving the cabinets, no complaints at all! And the floors are from Home Depot, https://www.homedepot.com/p/Blue-Ridge-Hardwood-Flooring-Northern-Coast-Rock-Cliffs-Oak-3-4-in-T-x-4-in-W-Smooth-Solid-Hardwood-Flooring-16-sq-ft-case-26228/324168199. We found it to be a great product for the price!

The original inspiration photo looks like natural cherry.

KraftMaid's Wicker and Shortbread are very similar. My client went with Shortbread as showed less "pitch pockets" than Wicker. Pitch pockets are areas that can look gray or muddy due to how the stain takes. Here is the link to her project with before and after photos. The after photo is still during construction, flooring and backsplash wasn't done yet.

Pitch pockets are just a characteristic of maple and nothing wrong with it. But my client was obsessed with not having them. :-)

VERY pretty! Looking great! How did you like the Hoodsly experience? My client just ordered a color match hood from them since the vendor didn't have any hood designs she liked.

  • last year

Hoodsly went well.. for the most part. It was costly. I was too scared that an insert wouldn't fit so I ordered theirs preinstalled. I think as long as the contractor is skilled at cutting out the back/making it work it'll be fine! I'd do it again for this clean design vs a boxy hood for my personal taste. Does take quite a few weeks so order early!

We ordered Wicker in Quarterssawn Oak and we are so unhappy. None of the cabinets match each other, they are all different shades and don’t look cohesive at all. We understand that wood has varying tones but not like this. We are trying to get Kraftmaid to replace the doors and drawers. has anyone had any similar experiences?

They look exactly how they should >.< they're beautiful! Can't believe you're so unhappy with them. If you wanted consistency then you should have stuck with a Maple wood species. You won't get anything different in replacement doors. They'll continue to look exactly like that. You even have a sample door there on job depicts that exactly. I've been a cabinet designer for 10+ years ( Kraftmaid is my preferred by long shot) and I genuinely see nothing wrong with these. I've seen some weird variations in all types of wood species but there is absolutely nothing out of the normal here. I'm sorry you're so unhappy with them.

Thanks, they replaced all the doors and drawers and it looks so much better. Less red and more cohesive!

This looks beautiful and I think similar to what our deisgn will look like. Are your countertops Taj Mahal?

Thank you! Yes they are leathered Taj Mahal

That is exactly what we are doing! Question. The color of the cabinets are hard to determine from the picture. Do they give off an orange untone? We are trying to decide between wicker and shortbread. I do love how this looks. What tile did you do and what type of wood are your cabinets. Thank you for your help

I dont think so! I think the lighting may be making it look that way. Here are a few more pictures with natural lighting. The cabinet with the orange post it was replaced! The color was way off and very red.

The coloring of the cabinets pairs so nicely with the brown in our Taj. The cabinets are Quartersawn Oak and the backsplash is Portmore tile in white from TileBar.

We're installing Kraftmaid Wicker on Maple in our "mountain" home and will add black soapstone countertop in kitchen (quartz in bathrooms) in about a month. At some point, once we've lived there with furniture & fabrics, etc... for a while, and after the cabinets "settle", we may end up painting some, but for now they're all wicker on maple.

(For those interested, we're starting to document our home build on new YT channel https://www.youtube.com/@Mountain_HomeKat ... we're the general contractors and designers)
