Hosta D 2023 ......................

Happy New Year everyone! I hope this year you get everything you need and want. Let's play hosta. Show some Ds today.

Have a great day everyone!

People keep saying 2023 was a bad year. For me it was the best ever. I got to play in the dirt just about every day. And the birds are my friends.

The last two are young plantings. Hopefully my Dream Weaver will be as beautiful as Beth's eventually.

Ben, I purchaed my Dream Weaver in 2015. It is finally looking nice but it hasn't multiplied much in all these years. Now I just like it as it is.

Happy New Year everyone!! I wish you all good health, prosperity, peace and love! The four ”musts” for life. Here my contribution for today:

This isn’t Fragrant Blue, or that was the consensus when I was seeking its ID. So I call it Dead Ringer, because it is

Dream Queen shrunk some but seemed to be bouncing back this season

DAF always looks good for me

    Dancing Queen

Dream weaver- It is 10 yrs old......so slow growing. :(😥

    Diana Remembered

Diamond Lake- It was left to die , as it had another pot on it and when I was getting ready to discard it: to my surprise it had pips . It looks awful but I will not do that again

Peren I love that dinner mint….feeling overwhelmed already lol, so many beauties!

Now I’m thinking about pulling out these 2 HUGE planters I’ve had stored in the garage for years. I could make hosta combos!! 😃

    Decisions, decisions…..

debra..thank you!..I love the name Dead Ringer..does the name apply to all unknown look alikes?..do you have lots of Dead Ringers or just the one? 😜..

Ann I agree with Debra, DL is a winner! Shadow no doubt yours will respond very well since all of yours look great.

GardenHo yes you need to make use of those planters! So many plants and always too little space available for all the ones we want lol!

Paula - Glad you had a good year, gal after my own heart, playing in the dirt and bird friendly. :-)

When I go to my garden area I always tell the DW I'm going to play outside.

Saija_Finland - You must be a dancer, lovely collection. I'd ask for the next dance but I'd be Dancing out of (the) Time (never heard of that one).

Pieter..come and hunt in my yard Lol..

    Sherry..I don’t have a Dancing Queen..but I want one..

    Devil’s Advocate is a stunner

Dream Queen. I put this one in a pot since it has been a bit slow and I don’t think it could ever put on size in my root infested soil

Dinner Mint is very underrated in my opinion

Peren, Dead Ringer is the name for that particular NOID. Most other NOIDS don’t look so much like any other hosta.

Oursteelers, wow to your DQ! Maybe I should pot mine! Also agree about Dinner Mint.

Old_Dirt: Dancing out of the Time is Dancing Mouse sport. It's bigger and grows faster.

Ann that looks like my local Lowe's. St Augie has one too. Oddly I have even been in that one. And to lure you all here we have hostas already. Sun hosta aka So Sweet.

    Paula..my phone says it’s 29 degrees right now..I won’t be going to Lowe’s today..I’m jealous..🙁

Glad you got to play a lot in the dirt this year Paula! I love the birds too.

I’m late to the party! But, I do look for the day’s post each morning with my coffee - since I’m on West Coast I figure Jax has had time in her morning to create it already!

Dragon Tails - a miniature - is the one with the flower - info said it’s a fast grower with long narrow & ruffled leaves & lavender flowers. I got this from Sebright Gardens & this is from last summer, 2nd year in pot. Warning, you’ll see this pot again 3 more times- I got all 4 of these mini’s on that shopping trip.

oursteelers - such a great mature pattern on your DQ, good call putting it in a pot, Although I found a relatively root free zone for mine so after 6 years it looks like this.

And I also agree about Dinner Mint and although a small, it was getting too big for its pot, so...

Dark Shadows early in the season before it turns dark.

I can't believe I only got one pic of Danubie Isla, it is one of my favorite subtle variegations.

That Dark Shadows has a stunning pattern to the leaf.
