Designing space surrounding fireplace

I need help deciding what will should go on either side of my fireplace.

The full wall is 20 feet. The fireplace will be 7 feet, so we will have 6.5 feet on either side to work with. The plans are drawn with transom windows up top and built-ins below, but I dislike transom windows so I want them out if I can. I can scrap the window altogether, but we’re blocking most of the light coming from the front of the house (left of pictures) and I’m trying to sneak in natural light where I can. If we put windows, they will face the side of our neighbors house so it won’t be much light but it will be something.

I’ve attached a few options.

Arched built-ins. I love the look, but wonder if it’s too much. Plus, no window.
Large windows with cabinet below. Gives us the window but little space to family photos, other decor.
Small window with open shelves and cabinet below. This looks off to me with the window feeling recessed compared to the shelves and window.
Floor to ceiling cabinet that minimizes the space.

Thoughts or other suggestions?

I had a similar situation in my layout. Choose high windows that let in light but don’t emphasize the poor view. Having windows on adjacent walls really improves the quality of light in the room. Here’s a pic- note that tv will be on the left - I just moved in.

I'd advise you not to select art or mirrors over the fireplace that aren't any wider than the firebox. It makes a difference in proportions for your built-ins and windows.

Will there be a TV in the room? Where will it go?

I love family photos, but I would rather have big windows in my living room. I vote for the two large windows.

If there is a covered porch to right i’d definitely do bigger windows. i don’t love tv over fireplace though so i would think about how high that will be.

We have two large southwest facing windows flanking our TV. Depending on the time of year and the position of the sun the windows can make watching the TV very unpleasant. You will probably need good window treatments for occasional light control, not sure you want that.
