Zone 8 a southern Oregon and pretty much everything does well here but stand outs Bolero and I like it so much that I have 3.

Memorial Day is a perfect rose from blooms to fragrance and low thorns

A wonderful Jalbert rose called our Anniversary just blows me away with its color and health

Here in the coastal strip of Southern California, as the gardeners have grown older, toughness is ever more important, so . . .

"Grandmother's Hat" remains the overall prizewinner . . .

Its lighter color sport, 'Tina Marie' is just as good:

I must not forget "Schmidt's Smooth Yellow" -- the only rose blooming generously, just now . . .

Just as good, IMHO, is Paul Bardens 'Jeri Jennings'

And while we're talking Barden, I must never forget Paul's 'Mel's Heritage.'

And, if you want something low-growing, disease-free, and poiple . . .

Can't say enough for 'International Herald Tribune' . . .

and 'Carolyn Supinger' (another Paul Barden gem)

Jeri, Grandmother's Hat seems to need less water than other roses. I planted Larry Daniels, another GH's sport, in the spring, but it seems to die because of our abundant spring rains. I will definitely try it again!

Elena, I don't know if it will be as spectacular again this year. There are many factors that can affect the performance of a plant. My GD was OK in the first two years, so it may need a little more patience. I have another 1G ownrooted one and hope it could be downsized a bit. LOL.

Feiy, I got my Our Anniversary from Palatine and I dont think that they carried it this year. It has een totally clean, plus it is a shortie. I really love Jalbert roses , I wish that they were more widely available

The most disease resistant rose for me here, where black spot pressure is intense, is Bliss. I have three of them, one older one whose impressive attributes prompted me to get two more, which two are equal in all the important traits the older one possesses.

My Pinkerbelle is incredible, except for its less than stellar flowers, is almost the perfect rose for my growing conditions.

My "Grandmother's Hat" was "found", by the late Fred Boutin, in Pasadena, CA, and appears to be virus-free.

'Larry Daniels' and 'Tina Marie' went through the hands of the discoverer of the sports, who budded his plants.

Kristine, I just found out Palatine still has Our Anniversary available!! I may have to go for it!

Jeri, I’m not sure what I ended up with or what I am going to do with it. It is a very vigourous with thin, bendy canes that are perfectly happy to run along the ground in all directions, but which seem to die off at the tips every time I’ve tried to secure them to a structure. It does not seem to repeat and the roses are small and deep pink/red with no fragrance I could detect.

It came from Rose Petal Nursery and they did provide a refund, but after two years of waiting and anticipating, it was quite disapointing.

What a disappointment!

I have a few minutes…. I live in the rainy Fingerlakes, NY, zone 6.

Pomponella is the most vigorous and prolific bloomer and no diseases. Eden was super vigorous, great bloomer & had no diseases untiil this 2023 season-so rainy-my roses grew fina and I think were swimming in the summer/fall rains. Other summers were much drier!

Wedding Bells is vigorous, blooms well, no diseases. Bliss did very well! Cream Veranda is excellent! Orchid Romance surprises me with lots of blooms, fragrance, no diseases! OLIVIA-fabulous! Honeymoon has beautiful blooms, vigous, no diseases. Out of now 126 roses thete are a few with no diseasses. most of mine are very durable & get a little something, otherwise

Reine des Violettes, vigorous, no diseases!!!! Surprise!

Parade Day was vigous, great blooms all summer-SUPER, had little BS in fall.

Flamenco Rossetta vigorous , clean clean!

Pas de Deux, was clean, grew vigorously!

Normally most of my roses were clean each year. 2023 brought more rains than ever and surprised my roses.

I don't grade my roses, but I can tell you what is performing best right now, in the middle of Jan. I had 2 dinner parties this past weekend, and went all over the garden (twice) looking for actual blooms which were about halfway out, and not ruined by all the rain & wind we have been having. I ended up with 2 lovely blooms of Madame Caroline Testout - they held their shape for 3 days in the vase, just getting bigger and rounder every day. That bush is growing up the side of the house, with a Southern exposure. Another star was Safrano. That old tea rose is always blooming here in mid Jan (days in the 50s, nights in the 40s), and there were enough blooms on the bush that I could find perfect ones which were just opening. Schmidt's Smooth Yellow, as Jeri said above, was great. All three of my bushes had multiple blooms on them. The one growing out by the street is even covered with new buds, as well as dozens of open blooms. The last rose blooms I found were on my several bushes of Cramoisi Superior - small but gorgeous, and they lasted over 3 days too. I filled in with paper whites, which were up all over, but just starting to bloom - all growing in the dirt outside. So fragrant!

LoS is actually on my 2022 winners list, but she didn't do that well last year. I just found out last month after her lower leaves fell that her main canes were infected with RSG (rose stem girdler), so I will have to prune her back in early spring and keep hoping that she will regain her beauty this year. *finger crossed*

Leonardo da Vinci...the hot pink climber in the middle. AS you can see, it simply outshines every other rose. It's easily the bloomiest rose in my garden.

Perennial Blue climbing rose...stunning and completely carefree

Another completely carefree climber....Malvern Hills. It has at least two huge flushes of bloom, and in part shade!

Patrick, while i love Julia Child, I find she is a bit more prone to blackspot in my garden. I am in the coastal plain a couple miles in from the bay and have very sandy soil that is a bit too free draining and I think the lack of moisture retention is a stressor on my roses that makes them more prone to blackspot. I keep amending to add organic matter and someday I may get there.

It occurs to me that I should have included Brindabella Purple Prince, Caldwell Pink and Polar Express on my list. I left them off because they’ve both been living in pots (although Purple Prince is finally in the ground now), so I don’t feel I’ve seen them at their best, but the fact that they’ve been so healthy and bloomed so well in unfed pots really says a lot.

As I'm sure you know, I think Caldwell pink has been identified as The rose also sold as pink pet. Just to avoid any confusion for those who don't know. I have found it And have it growing under both names. They are definitely the same as. Rose.
