Custom Made Sink

last modified: 2 years ago

We had some issues in the kitchen we are redoing. Low windows and some baseboard heat made standard kitchen cabibets not really work in the space. To combat that we placed a table aa a permeant fixture in our kitchen. We still wanted a sink in front of the windows but needed a higher one.

Stone Forest made the one we wanted but it was $3500 dollars. With a bit of figuring, i spent $400 on plywood and fiberglass and replicated the Stone Forest sink.

We got a nice big sink that matches the house well i think. For others considering making their own sink, it was easier to build thsn I thought it would be. It took some time to build only because it took waiting for layers of fiberglass to cure. But just like boatbuilding, ninety percent of the work is sanding. On this sink, I used seven layers of fiberglass instead of three making it stronger and impervious to water.
