Wolf Induction Range scratch concern

We ordered the 36” Wolf Induction range. Kitchen renovation starts in two weeks! I’m starting to get nervous about potential scratches on the glass top from either the pans or maybe when wiping the glass with grains of salt on it. How sensitive are these cooktops when it comes to scratching? Should I be as paranoid?

Any glass top will have the same issues. But you can actually protect induction, if you are rough on things. If you are than concerned, put down a silpat.

We've had our 30" Wolf transitional IR for almost 2 years.

I don't use a mat and while I don't salt vigorously I get lots of errant salt crystals if I salt my food while the fan is on.

It's no biggie to wipe/clean as I go. I use a damp TJ's microfiber cloth to wipe clean during/after cooking. I use the Wolf-provided cleaning cream when I want to deep clean/polish the glass.

What is noticeable, however, are the many scratches on the silver trim around the control panel.

I don't consider myself a "rough" cook, but I have lots of fine scratches on my silver trim. I admit I'm not diligent about using potholders/towels under my sheet pans after removing them from the oven. :(

That said, while I enjoyed our Wolf DF range I absolutely LOVE our Wolf induction range! It's an absolute dream to clean and easy to use even without dials!

I also use Lodge cast iron and Demeyre pots/pans. My All-Clad non-stick pans that are supposedly induction compatible are the only pans that don't work great on our range but I don't use them often.

What model of Demeyer are you using, Julie K? I need to buy new, and I wasn't sure if the 3 layers would be enough. 7 seems like it would be too heavy.

    Thank you!

I have the Atlantis line which I absolutely love!

I bought many individual pieces (not a set) from Cutlery & More in June 2007 when we bought our Wolf DF range.

I cook almost every day and they still look almost brand new! I love the fact they don't have rivets and they clean beautifully in the D/W.

I use an electric radiant glass top now (but have a Wolf induction top on order) and have never had any issues with the glass. Don't slide pots across it and be extra careful handling cast iron bc it's so heavy. Other than that, I like the glass surface a lot. Super easy to clean and it looks sleek. If something does stick, it can easily be scraped off with a razor blade. Good luck with your renovation! Ours is starting soon too.
