All of those things would help. Do you have to move the refrigerator to the garage? That would be rather inconvenient. Perhaps you could use it to help divide the space up, Maybe put a tall plant next to it on the living room side.

Whatever you do, I think you are going to have to get permission from your kitty. He/she appears very interested.

Is there another living room? I would keep the refrigerator here, and perhaps turn the sofa to face the window. It becomes the divider. Perhaps a console table behind it, to hold a lamp. A coffee table or ottoman, and another chair. How many people do you want to accommodate? Another idea is, instead of a sofa, three or four comfy chairs around an ottoman or coffee table.

They don’t have to all match, but hopefully coordinate somehow. A small table between two pairs would be handy.
