A DW is 24" a small sink you could do at 20" I have the Ikea sinks with drainbord back to back in my kitchen the sink is small and perfect for my catering biz kitchen . You can get 18" DWs so not sure what the issues are . Maybe posting a to scale plan would help Post here in a comment injpeg format DO NOT start another post

Our current rental has a 20" sink and a 24" dishwasher. But the sink cabinet is 30" and it seems like that's the smallest they are sold in? Can we get anything smaller?

Husband refuses a 18" dishwasher.

Unfortunately no floor plan exists. We would need to create one ourselves and we don't close until 2/15 so we can't do that yet.

Hire a kitchen designer. That’s a quite large space. Spend the money for a better design than squeezing in an efficiency kitchen solution in a small home sized space.

• 18" dishwasher + 24" sink cabinet = 42"
• 24" dishwasher + 21" base cabinet (example) with 18" sink (example) = 45"

Until you are ready to totally redo the kitchen just purchase a portable dishwasher that you hook up when you need it. A bonus is that it will come with some counter space that you will need in that kitchen.

Since you are not even in the space stop until you are in. BTW Ikea makes 24" sink cabinets . There is really no way to help without a to scale floor plan of the whole space , every window and doorway mareked. Every measurement clearly marked posted here in jpeg format in a comment . DO NOT start another post. From the pics you posted the space seems quite decently sized just really badly designed so info as to what you need and are you planning to keep the vintage sink since IMO that will drive the whole design

Patricia, we are going to get rid of the vintage sink. It looks cool but my current 20" sink is big enough and I would rather have extra counter space.

Depending on condition, you may be able to sell that sink for quite a bit of money. Or you could donate it to a ReStore and let them handle the sale.

Yes I'd like to try to sell the sink. It has been used by the current renters as their main sink so I know it functions well with no leaks and doesn't look rusted. Maybe it can cover part of the cost of shortening that dang window!
