We got our new built ins which are painted in high gloss. The carpenter clearly missed on so many aesthetic details. What should be a continuation of the trims on the base of these? The old trim is your traditional foot molding available at any big box store. The sides of the cabinet are shaker style simple squares with the bottom piece missing 😠. And then the doors are beveled 😫🤦🏻‍♀️. Such a messed up mix up of styles and trims makes me cringe. Given that the old molding can’t be continued in the front due to the height difference, how would you at least handle the sides and the front corner trim adjacent to the door? I’m thinking, skip the front, stick a flat square trim to match the rest of the sides and call it a day? I know, may be nobody will notice since it’s such a small part of the whole room, unless you mention. But the whole purpose of trims is to draw attention. So everyone WILL notice 😣. And I will always know that the corners are not done correctly which will bother me.
As much as I want to get the square trimmed doors, can’t go back to carpenter to change the doors. We will need to hire the painter back to spray paint etc and that is opening a can of worms. We need our room back.
