Shower layout help - double showerheads?

Hello,

I need help deciding on the placement for showerheads in our walk-in shower. My husband and I will usually be showering separately, but I'd like to have 2 shower heads, in case we need to shower at the same time during a hectic morning. I also want to include a hand shower, probably somewhere in the center of the shower, so that it can stretch to cover the whole space for cleaning purposes.

The shower is 8'x4', with a 12" deep bench along the left wall, and a 6" deep niche on the bottom wall. There is a 3' wide opening.

I attached a photo of the shower, and a photo with my thought (2 red stars would be showerheads, orange star would be a hand shower).

I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks for your help!

I would put them both on the wall opposite the bench.

I have a slightly smaller shower today with 2 showerheads and we have them on opposite walls / offset. It's not bad.

The placement you are recommending would have the water landing in the same place and if you were showering together you'd want to stand in the same place.

I would also recommend just having 2 handhelds on bars for each of your showers and not 2 fixed with a handheld. That plumbing will get expensive and 2 handhelds on sliding bars are infinitely adjustable, easy to plumb, and the "upper" one will be able to reac the entire shower.

Also - consider putting your controls either diretly in front of the entrance over the bench or to the right before you walk in.

Agree on just having two shower heads but I would put them here. This should reduce the amount of water ending up on top of the bench and I think it's enough space so you aren't standing in the same spot.

Showering together when you are both trying to get ready to go somewhere isn’t going to be that great. I find different showering styles can be annoying in a small space. You are going to find that you are bumping into each other and probably getting shampoo etc. on one another the way you’ve imagined it.
I’d suggest a fixed shower head at the end furthest from the door, and a handheld on the opposite wall on the door end. It’s easier to control the spray direction and adjust your position with the handheld.
The best solution would be to use a shower in another bathroom if you have one.

Yeah, if you want to get out of the house fast, best not to shower together!!😀

We recently did a semi similar shower (it’s about 2ft less long). We have a shower head on each of the short walls, a rain head in the middle, and the hand held also on one of the short walls. If my husband didn’t love rain head showers (I detest them), I would have nixed that down to what you are talking about. To me, it would be a bit of a waste of a big shower if you didn’t have at least two shower heads because it’s basically a bunch of unusable space that’s cold during a shower and dispersing the warmth from the steam. I would put the two heads on each of the short walls, and then the handheld on the wall across from the bench so that it can be used on either side. I also think the cord hanging down doesn’t look as lovely, so it would be tucked away. We LOVE our shower setup. The opposite wall shower heads give plenty of space when needed, or my husband will sometimes get in there and adjust them to use both at once. We have young kids, so one of us can hop in there with them and no one is cold and crying. They are on longer arms with additional adjustability for even more flexibility of reach. There are 2 thermostatic controls for our setup. One has a shower head/handheld and one has the other shower head/rain shower. Having separate temperature and independent water pressure is a must to me for this setup. I would have had one set of controls on each side, but the other wall is exterior and they advised against that. Best of luck!

In a previous house we had shower heads on both ends, now we have two on the same wall. Works much better on the same wall when we are showering at the same time.
