Mugo pine over trimmed

Hi.

A gardener cut my Mugo pines back to base, needless branches about foot diameter balls….

I have 12 in front of my home….

is there a method to stimulate new growth from these limbs?

I have read of correct trimming methods snd warnings… limbs are supple and seem alive.

plants are 12 yesrs old and i hope to save them…

any thoughts or methods?
