Wrapped it with what?

I assume the poster means using a faux stainless on a white or other fridge....or decorative. Who knows? We're mind readers....

I have not "wrapped" a fridge, as no luxury kitchen client would consider covering a subzero in this manner -though they'd certainly clad one.

For anyone else in a different kitchen? There are loads of good looking, and even vintage cooling solutions.

You not only need a sense of humor, you could do well with a gigantic dose of courtesy.

It is the internet, you don't get to choose the reply - though you can certainly choose your wrapping. Ridiculous or otherwise.

I have never wrapped one but the idea is intriguing. I have done a little research on it in the past. Would this be a diy project or would you hire someone to do it for you? If it is a diy project I think it could be done in a way that is easily reversible and for not much money.

HU-227031627 , OP. I do not need it inside, but I have a garage fridge that I would be interested in using it on if you get a real answer from anyone that doesn't think you have to spend a $100,000 on a kitchen. Not all of us are so snooty.

Maybe give us a bit more info as to what exactly you hope to accomplish . I had friends who painted their fridge with a crazy design he was an artist . It was fun but they tired of it after wahile . A double door fridge will cost uite bit of money so I need , and you need to take answers when given with a nicer attitude. I have no idea whay a fridge in the garage needs covering. I am usually accused of being the snarky one here but honestly we can only help wjhen we know what the issue is .

I think it is like automotive wrapping. You have all seen vehicles—cars and vans—wrapped with designs promoting products and the like. I believe some Smeg fridges are sold “wrapped” with the flag of Italy and the Union Jack. If wraps can survive outdoor conditions on vehicles, I am pretty sure that they could survive life in a kitchen, unless near high heat.

I have not even thought about vinyl wrapping a refrigerator, but I had vinyl wrapped A-frame signs and vinyl signs for the side of our truck when I had a business and they lasted forever (15-20 years).

Just looked on the internet for options and must say it is intriguing.

Here's a thought, instead of refacing cabinets, I wonder how well wrapped cabinets (particularly if they were slab cabinets) would work.

@ HU-227031627 - When I was young and didn't have much money I made flowered curtains and painted a cabinet red and used the same fabric and glued it to the cabinet using modge-podge. Most of my kitchen was white, but this one area was red and white and it made my little cheap place cheerful. It lasted for years without any problems. I moved without replacing it.

My mom always talked about how some of her happiest memories were from when she was young and poor and didn't have "a pot to piss in". Now that I am old I think back and she was right - happiness isn't dependent on us having enough money to buy a sub zero fridge or new cabinets.

Don't get me wrong, being poor didn't make me happy, but it didn't stop me from enjoying my little red kitchen and being happy with my results. I still like to do my own renovation work installing cabinets, flooring, painting and making curtains and shower curtains, minor plumbing (installing faucets, toilets - not tubs or drains). It still feels good to do something myself and put my own stamp on it.

Wrapping cabinets won't last for decades, but it may give you 4 or 5 years of extra use. Why not wrap them if it is going to make your kitchen a spot of joy in your home?

I have seen some YouTube videos of people using PlastDip to wrap their entire car. This would likely work for refrigerators as well.

It might be more permanent depending on the glue used.

Wallpaper

Peel and stick wallpaper or paintable

Posters

You linked a design with Marilyn Monroe. That seems like it could easily be done with a huge poster.

Magnets

You might be able to custom fit a huge magnet that covers the refrigerator panels and decorate the outside with whatever design you can think of. This might preserve the integrity of the original refrigerator panel.

Molding and Mirrors

Add molding to your refrigerator using construction adhesive, then paint the entire thing the same color as your cabinets. You could also add wood craft hemispheres to mimic metal rivots that are sometimes seen on range hoods. Mirrors might also look great in this type of design.

With projects like this you are only limited by your imagination.

I think you have gotten tons of help here without actually shoing us the fridge or the wrap you want to use I think painting the fridge could be a lot of fun and probably a lot cheaper than the wraps and could be anythingyou want.

I don't have a wrap picked out. My question was if anyone had done it and whether the wrap looked good. You are spinning it into something else Patricia.

I have never wrapped a ref. The videos make it look just like the way they wrap a car. I think you will need really good prepping and a lot of patience.

If you do it, take a video or make notes and be sure to post before and after - I am sure there are others who would love the help!

The fridge armoire starts life with 14K or more of fully integrated refrigeration.

Given that the wraps appear to be harmless to the underlying refrigerator, the risk isn't destroying a $14k or an old $40 refrigerator, but the risk is wasting the cost of the material, the loss of time/energy spent on the project, and any fee paid to a professional installer if one is involved.

I love how empowering this kind of thing is. Whether it is rehabbing an old appliance to look new or saving tons of money by not having to buy custom frig/DW panels, this is a real game changer in terms of how good it looks and how much money can be saved.
