Sherry - I love all your purples and Minnesota Morning. Mary's Baby always looks so nice in photos. I'm excited that we are having three seedling posts.

Here are My M's:

Marlee Jane has never been the registered height, but it was taller than a lot of my daylilies last year.

Maui Sunrise was shorter than usual and way down on buds last season.

Memphis had scapes the registered height, but it was lower in buds than previous years.

Men in Black had a mix of tall and short scapes.

Michael Davisson had extremely short scapes in its first year to bloom. The colors were really beautiful though, and I harvested a few pods with it as a parent.

Mystical Intuition was short last year.

Minstrel Singer performed well and rebloomed.

Mister Mayor was shorter than last year and not quite as well budded.

Moon Shimmers had some very ruffled blooms last year. I look forward to seeing this one in a clump in the future.

Moonlit Masquerade bloomed about a month later than normal and then only a couple of fans.

Sherry, that is such a pretty photo of Mary’s Baby. Mine did not perform well last season and I did not even get a picture.

Debra, Marlee Jane is so vibrant and Moon Shimmers is indeed ruffled!

Memphis is always perfect. It usually reblooms 2 or 3 times. This was an August rebloom

Margo Reed Indeed has neither bloomed or multiplied well for me. It is also rather short

Morning Sky is a late bloomer that blooms for a long time

Mister Butters was fabulous last season

Mean Green is a ”suitcase” daylily for me. Will always go with me.

Magic of Oz was pretty but short

Megillah bloomed well

Mister Mayor was a good bloomer

Can’t wait to get Magenta Wonder in the ground. This is a bloom in a pot under a tree so it is quite pale.

Moonlit Gold

Mountain Orchid is one of my favorites. It got caught in the late freeze last season and did not bloom. This is my favorite previous photo of it.

Kate - I love your photo of Memphis! Last year was the first time mine did not rebloom. I suppose that resulted from the drought conditions. My pinks in general did not perform well last year, but Memphis was the best of them. I photographed it more than any other pink. The earliest blooms were much darker because of the cooler temps.

Your clumps of Mister Butters and Mister Mayor look fantastic. They'd look really good planted together. Mean Green has never appealed to me, although I'm always impressed with what a good performer it is. What is the purple UF in the photo next to Mean Green? My Margo Reed Indeed, now growing in a pot, did not bloom at all last season. Mine has always been shorter than registered.

Sherry, you've got some great purples. Outstanding to me are Moroccan Suprise, Magic Dancer, and Mage Quest. Also, that is a good idea to split the seedlings into 3 categories. I love seeing seedings, ant that way we won't be overwhelmed with each post.

Debra, As usual I like Maui Sunrise. Also Mr. Mayor and Michael Davisson.

Kate, Mr. Mayor, Megillich, and Magenta Wonder are my faves of yours.

I hope that "suitcase daylily" does not mean that you're planning on leaving anytime soon, Kate. I agree that Mary's Baby was subpar last year; she also takes a while to recover from division. Mediterranean Sailor has a nice radiating throat. Nice clump of Emmerich's Megillah, named after a Hebrew scroll that gives the account of Esther. Mister Butters is indeed fantastic, especially for those who appreciate earlier bloomers. I thought that you grew Michael Davisson years ago, Debra.

So many M's that I will post some here and more later.

Magnetic Springs, though not like 2022, had some nice blooms. At Crintonic, I saw lots of splotches, but it has been quite clean here.

Missing Waldo had a colorful first-year bloom, but I have no idea what its performance/habit will be.

My Utmost for His Highest blooms rather late. A tall Emmerich plant that hasn't been a fast multiplier.

Mean Green --yes, I would take it with me, but the next stop will be what in my native town was called "the old people's home." It did not look good at the estate, where its backdrop wall was too light.

Hensley's Mighty Heart is nowhere near registered height of 36", but looked good last year.

Memorial to Steve is heavily budded. Took a while to disbud for this picture. Not a vibrant color, but still appealing and often looks like a bit of a bitone here.

Marian Cavanaugh is a color that stands out. Branching is not ideal, as buds tend to cluster. I saw it already as a seedling; many visitors had commented, but I think that it barely made Curt's standards.

Mardi Gras Indian is a very intense color. Not sure what it will look like in clump strength. Last year was not a good year to judge, but it should have had more buds than it did.

Mister Mayor is a good grower, but not the performance of 2022.

Man Eater is a very good grower.

Mango Crush is a nice very late bloomer.

Mardi Gras Indian is perhaps the hottest color in the garden.

Mayan Warrior looked good last season.

Moving Forward is a southern-bred dayliliy that has done well for us.

Mantis - I had Michael Davisson for only one season years ago. It died in a pot that following winter. I'd been looking to replace it ever since. It's very hard to come by. I found it offered by a northern seller two Springs ago, but it didn't bloom that first year.

I really like Mineral Springs and Marion Cavanaugh!

Brad - The Maleny Empire Rose is a lovely bright shade of pink!

Nancy - Mayan Warrior looks good!

MONEY MAKER: First year, so too new to evaluate.

Not the best picture but MARY'S BABY. A little shorter than previous years.

MEGATRON: Great performer. Tall, many buds and holds up in the sun.

MYSTERY OF THE AGES: Always above the foliage and blooms for a long time. Well budded. The eye and petal color sometimes are reversed. It is temperature dependent.

MALCOLM DAVID BROOKER SR: Usually just above the foliage, but a little shorter this past year.

Mystery of the Ages here had few blooms; didn't like last summer. Money Maker was nice its first year here, but the last two have had question marks. Memphis has been quite reliable here, though subpar last year. Margo Reed Indeed--what can I say? The "slight" defect of blooming just above the foliage is not slight here. Nor is its bloom compelling in an era of Isabelle Rose. I had someone asking for it and tried to convince him to choose something else, but he was persistent. It may have more merits farther south.

Martha Edson Norris --showy, but indeed short by nature.

Mitch Lynd--heavily budded, but blooms don't seem to crowd each other out.

Mama Drama --subpar the past year; picture from 2022

Man of Sorrows --subpar. Needed to be divided too. Out of Joan Derifield

Makayla Jenelle --don't know why it is not more widely grown. Boatwright

Mai Tai --nice the past year; not a fast multiplier here

Mahogany Magic from 2022. Bad year the past summer.

Mary's Gold --a beacon in the later garden, rivaling Bill Norris in this color.

Magic Lace. I still have this one, though David appears to have deleted it.

Memphis this past summer --bud count can be modest, but flowers are consistent showstoppers.

Mister Butters produced this picture past summer.

Mary Lightfine, an evergreen, actually liked the past summer. Those that outperformed last year may not like more "typical" summers (if one dares to use "typical" anymore). This is the parent of Mary's Baby--hence, the name.

And Mary's Baby this year, a subpar year.

Minnesota Nice was subpar compared with this pic from 2022. It needs to be divided. Another one that seems not to be widely grown.

Mantis - Mitch Lynd seems to have a ton of buds. I love the look of Morning Mood's color and big, white watermark. Memphis is nice and ruffly in your climate. Here it usually has bud counts in the mid- to high teens.

Sherry: Your picture of Mary's Baby captures her perfectly. Mine did not perform as well last year as most, but each bloom she did produce was so lovely that it didn't bother me. There's always next year as all gardeners tell themselves. I'm a fan of the dark oranges as most know, so I was pleased as punch to receive Nan's Muy Caliente and have it turn out so well in my rather inhospital summer climate (far removed from the milder summers in Indiana). A good bloomer that is also very color fast. It blooms at the same time here as my gold standard deep orange sunfast daylily Burning Inheritance and even compared to it Muy Caliente still earns its space in my small collection.

This little Apps daylily has been with me for years. Nothing fancy, but it pairs up so nicely with Orange Smoothie and is so hardy that it continues to earn its keep here. This was taken around 4 in the PM so colors have already been affected by summer heat, but they still look pretty darned good considering.

SO SORRY-it is Magnetic Springs, a Hanson. Maryotts do not do well here generally, partly because of tenderness and partly because of the round, ruffled form of many of them.

Maryl, which cultivars do you think are not presented well on the database? Glad to see that you have enjoyed Makayla. It attracts attention in the garden. Darrell Apps has so many recent intros, but one seldom hears about individual cultivars. Hard to keep up with all the new intros in general. The market winnowing process is not so efficient. Too often one discovers that the latest rave cultivar has no clothes.

Yes, the hot Mexican Maiden pairs so well with the mellow Orange Smoothie.

Mantis: I answered this yesterday, but it seems to have vanished......Good deal on the true name of Magnetic Springs. The picture on the database for Magnetic Springs looks just like yours (maybe because it is-lol). It is a color that I favor so glad to be made aware of it........Darrell Apps newer daylilies are sold at the link below, but they are way too proud of them to fit my pocketbook. Given my pot culture, I seldom take a big monetary risk on any daylily new or old................Maryl
