@dee: lol!! no, you probably see an emty page because they only ship live plants to Canada and your browser location must be set to the U.S.

I do not intend to buy any for now, but maybe next year. Most of my garden beds are in full sun, not a great spot for hellebores.

edit: But I did buy seeds: red lupine, pink gypsophilla and a pink/white columbine.

@peren.all: yes, they have an incredible selection! I think it will be my first seed order with them. They are fast, I received an email this morning to notify me that they’ve already shipped my seeds!

I had a look, mazerolm and the prices seem demented. 3 climbing rose seeds for $8.99 jumped out at me (as it is most unlikely that seeds of a rose can have any guarantee that they are going to be of a particular type). The quantities seemed minuscule too. (10 seeds of primula vulgaris for $6)...unless I am missing something and seeds are really that spendy in Canada or I was getting mixed up with currencies. I was a bit shocked tbh, given the costs of seeds in the UK and Europe. Have you looked at Jelitto seeds? They sell generous amount for far less money (and a truly massive variety). Even cheaper, Special Plants sell seeds for £2.50 (not sure what the equivalent is in Canada, but she also ships worldwide, I believe. Of course, it may be because getting seeds in Canada is tricky and expensive but blimey, I would be bankrupt if I had to contend with such sums of money.

I sincerely hope I have the wrong end of the stick and you get huge enjoyment and pleasure from your seeds, whatever the amounts. Not wishing to come across as being snotty or snarky here (I know I sometimes do).

@rosaprimula: you’re right, their seeds are expensive, but shipping is cheap.

I know some other places sell larger quantities for less, but Ferri had exactly what I wanted. And I wouldn’t know what to do with the extra seeds, so for me, 5 lupine seeds is all I need.

I was actually wondering if they buy in bulk from Plant World Seeds and resell, because that’s where I got my seeds last year and I noticed that they have a lot of the same.

There’s a few online places in Canada, but it feels like they all have the same Russell mix of lupines, the same echinacea purpurea, same delphiniums, etc.

Personally, I have not seen Ferri’s diversity elsewhere in this country, but I could certainly be mistaken! It will be my first order with them, I hope it will be good stock.

I’m sure I’m not the only Canadian gardener who sometimes wishes to live in the UK, to have easy access to all these plants… and your mild climate of course! :)

Very interesting! I am tempted to go against what I JUST wrote on the other thread about not buying online recently. I did check out their website though, and it did remind me of of some of the operations which were a bit "iffy" for me - i.e. they operate more as "middle dealers" getting the plugs in bulk then shipping them off. Which, of course, is all fine - until they have a major issue with one of their suppliers and you can't get half your order as a result. I couldn't find any specific location on their site, aside from the vague "shipping from Ontario". So just a bit of a caution for you...

@mazerolm - did you check out the shipping for these? For one plant to me my address in Ontario they quoted $24 (though for 5 plants it totalled $26). Another thing to watch if ordering from them.

@LaLennoxa 6a/b Hamilton ON: no, I only ordered seeds from them and shipping was very cheap (6-7$). I checked their Google reviews and they’re decent!

Rosa, Jelitto seeds is rather fantastic, last year received 16 generous packs from them and more than pleased with both price and seed germination.

Am tempted by a few things from Special Plants Nursery in UK. I got the biggest smile when coming across one of my own photos upon their website, this beauty is amaranthus 'Pygmy Torch', the color and texture is what has been missing from my landscape and was much welcomed back in '23.

Yes, on their website, I came across my photo when doing a search of this striking amaranthus. I haven't grown nicotiana in several years, but they flower profusely and add so much especially the mid sized plants, the uber dwarf types I don't much care for. This year am growing 'Perfume Red', it grows to 20 inches. The light yellow daisies are that of annual chrysanthemum 'Primrose Gem', another I must reintroduce to my garden! :)
