John, I grow it and would be happy to root one for you. Unfortunately, last week I pruned my very elderly one. I have two rooted in gallons that I plan on using as replacements for the old one, but I'm not willing to let one go (selfishly, I want a back-up on this rose). But as soon as I can, I'll strike cuttings for you if you can't find it elsewhere sooner. I got on RVR's wait list for this one > 5 years ago (before I retired and wasn't doing cuttings). RVR finally made it available a year or two ago, but by then, I had made cuttings of it. BenT posted a thread about it then, and you and I both heartily encouraged him to get it, which he did. It was on RVR's available list for quite awhile after that, so I'm afraid that sent them the message that it wasn't in high demand.

I'm still kicking myself that I didn't have several extras (is there such a thing as extra roses, when they're this beautiful??) of this plant, knowing I could lose it anytime to RRD...or any of several other tragedies, lol. Mine was a gift many years ago from a now deceased friend (who gave me its name as Leila Verde), so it had sentimental value, as well. I HAVE to replace it. I'll let you know if I do find it, but you should probably just start one when your babies are big enough to supply cuttings. I don't know of another source beside RVR, and they may never carry it again. Thank you SOOOOOO much.

Of course I'll pay for shipping costs, and if you'd like a start of any of my roses, I'll be glad to root them for you.

@susan9santabarbara THIS would be an excellent candidate for some of your Pink Clouds pieces! And, PC is virus indexed so there is no worry about possibly infecting Lila Vidri by budding it. (hint, hint!) Wait until you see the difference good roots can make!

I also lost mine several years ago and it was surprisingly hardy for me in zone 5 for a lavender own root rose. Most Dot roses fade for me - perhaps they have tea heritage in their breeding - but this one was sorely lamented. If you find an extra cutting some day I'd be interested. Just can't post that on a public forum.

@susan9santabarbara Susan, Ben has graciously offered me a young plant, which I'm going to take. *IF* you decide to bud some on to PC, I definitely would want one of those, as well. As much as I love LV (which is a LOT), she's not the most robust lady in my garden, and PC just might give her a boost. Kim seems to think so, and that's good enough for me! lol.

@fig_insanity Z7b E TN if it's OK with @susan9santabarbara I can put the two of you in touch with email addresses. Please let me know and I'll "introduce" you! There are VERY few roses budding to a vigorous set of roots won't improve. Those have always been the types which are vigorous and usually grow large on their own roots. Anything not fitting those characteristics usually benefit from better roots.

@roseseek Kim, it's fine with me, if Susan doesn't mind having to initiate contact, lol. You know I trust your discretion...that's why we keep in touch to begin with ;)

John, I did lose mine in the Camp Fire. I also got a new one from RVR last yr (or was it the yr before?), and immediately lost it to our damn triple digit summer heat. Of course, RVR has not had her in stock since then. I'd love to get cuttings from someone in trade for something I have if anyone's up for that?

Beth, assuming my new one from Ben does well, I'll be glad to send you cuttings. I just don't want to count my cuttings before they hatch, lol. My original was never robust, but it didn't grow backward, either, so I have hopes to propagate the new one and pass it around. LV is too near extinction not to take some precautions, as Kim pointed out to me.

Beth, I'm happy to add Lila Vidri to my wish list from you from a couple of years ago... it's easy to root. I've had trouble rooting some of them (Sunday Lemonade is very pesky to root), and I'm assuming you got WS2K and some others elsewhere. But I do have a Tiara for you, if you're still interested. You have my email.

In case anyone is wondering about the Pink Clouds thing, Kim is mentoring me on learning how to bud. I have obtained both Pink Clouds and IXL from different friends to use as rootstocks. It's pretty exciting :-D

I had just pruned my Lila Vidri last week so unfortunately there’s no cutting material, but I’ll start some new ones after first flush this year and contact you if they are successful. I do cuttings of 5-10 varieties each year, just for fun, sometimes it’s hard to choose which ones…but obviously this year one will be Lila Vidri!

Thanks Ben! If it works I'd be grateful, and gardeners have to be patient in so many ways, particularly rose gardeners. I appreciate you thinking of me - let me know what I can send in trade or to compensate for your time and postage.
