KA Superba Convection Microwave not heating - Repair or Replace?

The built in MW is 20 years old. Through the years, we have spend $$ repairing the pull down door (spring breaks reliably every 3-4 years) and even to replace the interior light bulb that is not servable by the consumer.

I cannot afford to replace this unit with a KA -- way too expensive. Would have to be a built-in "regular, not convection" MW with a trim kit. Is that easy to do?

I no longer care about the convection feature since we have an air fryer.

Currenty, the MW is louder than normal and not heating. Repair or replace?

The problem is that built-in ovens have shrunk in height since your product was made. The Whirlpool WMT55511KS ($629) built-in microwave with trim kit would fit but you'd have to do some cabinet work because both the cutout height and the height of the Whirlpool trim kit are somewhat less than the cutout height and oven height of your appliance, respectively. Oh wow that's what I was afraid of. KA makes such a nice looking built-in MW, but the cost is astronomical. The Whirlpool is nice looking too -- hopefully the trim kit comes with it.

So, if I am reading this correctly, the Whirlpool MW with trim kit WMT55511KS would be about 3/8" too short from top to bottom?

- Your appliance height: 20-1/2"
- Whirlpool trim kit height: 19-1/8"
Another idea: Use the Whirlpool WMT50011K whose trim kit is only 14" high and put a shelf under the oven and above the drawers.
