top of stairs decor help

Hi everyone!!

I got great feedback on my entry way but does anyone have recommendations for the blank wall you see at the top of the staircase with pictures? When you walk in the house the stairs are right in front and my eye goes right up there. The wall is 9x3 and shares a wall with the bathroom. I have a picture of up there too.

Thank you all for always being positive and kind.

you could do a hanging light, some nice art, or some sort of wall accent treatment.

see how this is? nice light, some art, painted wall

but since it's so small, just hang a nice piece of art and call it a day.

maybe a chandelier of some type too.

or a semi flush ceiling light. it's off center so you can see it and the art at the top

in the future, i'd think about redoing those stairs w/a runner and maybe decorate the wall going up the stairs. something liek this is nice w/the sisal runner

Thank you all! Great suggestions! The carpeting is getting ripped out and we planned to refinish with a runner as well as putting in a railing to open the main floor up when you walk in the house.

Love the flush mount and art examples for the top bedroom floor. So you think put the art off center and make it fully viable or get one very large piece like 3x5ish and center it?

Vertical skyscapes that give the feeling of a window look great on high walls.

Or a vertical version of a moonscape since stairs lead to bedrooms:

Something fabulous (vertical) at the top of the steps for starters. But you’re removing the carpeting and getting a nice runner so that changes the whole look of your staircase. I would hold off doing anything (other than hanging something you love for now) and see the steps and landing as a total project.

@RedRyder. Agree that it's better to wait until after stair carpeting is installed.

I'd go large, but after you settle on our carpet.

Wait until your other work is done. Cut out different size piece of brown bag paper and hang them on your wall to see what size picture your eye most likes from the bottom of the stairs and in the hallway. Then go shopping.

I personally would not frame the view from the bottom of the steps. I'd get what looks right for the wall when you are up there. Fine if the view is cut off when you walk in the house.

There is a lot going on here..architecturally..railings…stairs…angles…finishes…leaving an ideal spot for an accent wall…with all the surrounding beige and white…. especially if you have a favorite color…
