Using what you have, I would move the console you have under the mirror and then flip the table. I would line three chairs up on either side of the table. I'm assuming there is a 6th chair elsewhere in the house. The lego is a temporary thing, but you might want to put it on trays or cardboard so you can move the lego creations easily when you want an adult space.

Thank you for the ideas. Is this better? We are getting a larger table...should I consider a round table? And we are getting a proper console table...should it span most of the length of the wall?

Seems like this is a multi purpose room? Legos, laptops, etc. There’s nothing wrong with using space that fits your needs unless you want a dedicated dining room. So tell us how you’ll be using this room. I agree that the mirror doesn’t work and I’m not a fan of the industrial looking sconces. Love your floors!

I think a round table would look great in there, and I’d move the console table back to where it was, the ceiling lights kind of encourage it being on the original wall, instead of the mirror I’d add art between the sconces but the biggest thing I think is adding some fabrics/softness somehow…in a rug or curtain panels or changing the chair seats to something that reads less wood matchy.

The wall sconces aren't helping define the space as a dining room. It appears there are cans in the ceiling (oddly placed) you could jump off of and get a chandelier. That window is fabulous. What's the view? Curtain panels framing it again will add color and softness to a presently harsh room.

    Rug, curtains, buffet, art.

I think it looks so much better after changing the table direction. How does the room look when the lights are all on ? I think the window is great and certainly window treatment, rugs, art will go a long way.

I think it looks better. I like your table, mirror and sconces. A bigger sideboard would be nice, but the one you have is ok for now. A large rug might look good in the space.

I would mock up a round 60" table in the space.

Look at having an electrician move the recessed lights and install a box for a chandelier, BUT don't do this until you have decided on the furniture and placement. Hint: the lights don't have to be centered in the room but instead should relate to the furniture.

Maybe a 60" round Saarinen type table to tie in with your kitchen ...

I think the table is very nice and I’d keep it.
Replace the chairs and save on the table for other things…

    I also like the table.
