Not quite the right rug color but I think if you get some complimentary colors in there that it can warm it up. I stumbled across the cat while photoshopping!

To warm up the space you need to add warm colors and some texture and/or pattern.

I ahve this rug from Amazon it has some color in it with a touch of gold whaich was why I chose it . I wansted to ad a touch of gold to my black, white and gray space.

Ok, so I wasn't so far off. You needed some texture and pillows.

Jan's set of lettered recommendations below are totally on. The warm wood really brings in the warmth. The table you got is too stark of a wood tone. You want to warm up the space but are buying predominantly grey and white rugs. Not going to cut it. You have too much grey working against you already. You strike me as someone who perhaps doesn't like color. (I'm one of those people myself.) So neutrals can be your friend, just not more grey and white. Think of browns as a neutral.

Think tones and lots of texture.

Google Amber Lewis, Lulu and Georgia.... You'll see it. Warmth, Organic, crunchy touchy feely : )

I do love colour, just not sure how to do it. I agree with the warmer wood table plus spicing up my life with pillows and such.

A hint about ordering rugs online. Order the smallest versions of the ones you like. Many online rug retailers have free shipping and returns. You can test the color and texture in your space without worrying about the hassle of wrapping up a big rug that didn't work and lugging it to UPS.

THE MARKETPLACE knows there are so many many millions stuck with a gray couch and an ice cold room....: )

different rug??

When you say " I don't love gray...." it's because you have too MUCH of it, and not enough "other"

I say go textured and tonal because it is naturally richer than jamming a bold color into the room.

So......gray IS neutral, just not as neutral as folks tend to think it is. : )

Added some spicy cushions and leaning towards adding these two additions (rug and coffee table) hoping it all comes together. Eventually will seek out a new lamp and maybe a few more cushions. Thank you all for the support!! We dont seem to have as much selection in Canada. Most sites mentioned do not ship here. :(

You need a rug with punch and color.

Back with an update. Ordered the coffee table and rug which go perfectly with the accent chair however I need to pull the couch in better as its still giving majority grey.

Possible plans:

- add drapery

-change lamp to either brass or wood shaft

-possibly ordering side table that matches coffee table swapping out the one thats there.

-possibility to paint the walls or cover black rim of fire place with some sort of wood that matches coffee table.

Not sure whether to accent with green/rich brown accent pillows or do majority cream to tie in the rug.

curious to know your thoughts.

Have you thought about swapping out the lamp shade to a linen color or off white? The stand would then be a highlight / feature and visible rather than hidden under the current dark shade. Changing the shade would then leave the fireplace as the focus, with the warmer tones surrounding it.

Overall, it is coming together!

Thank you for your feedback. Definitely changing out this lamp. Going to try the clear glass globe style and the cream shade as you suggested to see what flows better.
