Stacking Multiple Curtains for a Large Window?

This might be obvious to others but I've never had this problem. I have 4 windows in my master bedroom, 3 measuring 37x63.5 and one measuring 70.5x63.5,

None of the curtains that I like for the space have measurements will suit all of the windows. I can find curtains that will work for the smaller windows, and curtain that work for the big one, but nothing that will match for all of them, and customer is not in my budget.

If I went wiht the smaller curtains, could I stack 2 on each side to make them work for the large window or would that be obvious and look strange?

Yes, that is how curtains work. You buy as many panels as you need for each window. The general rule of thumb is 2x the width of the window in panel inches.

So for your smaller windows, one panel on each side. The larger window will need two panels on each side. This is assuming drapery fabric and not sheer fabric. Sheers will need much more, roughly 3x the window width.

Take a photo of the windows. The three windows could have the same look as the one larger window.

This idea is using two rods. (Notice how it is installed. ) One rod for the three windows using two quality, lined, panels and inside mount shades for each window. Using shades for each window eliminates the need of yards of fabric. For the larger window, rod hung exactly as for the three windows, and one inside mount shade.

I think I'm not describing this very well so here's some photos that might help. The windows are not in one row or place in the bedroom, they are scattered across two different walls. What I'm proposing is that I order appropriately sized curtains for the 3 smaller windows, and then order those same size curtains for the much larger window but put two curtain panels on each side of that larger window and just place them side to side rather than paying an exorbitant amount for custom curtains. We are also doing motorized shades, the curtains are really more for esthetics and will rarely be used to cover the windows.

Please excuse the mess and the massive box blocking the large window, we are undergoing renovations.

The simplest way is to hang rods the same distance from the ceiling and cover each window.

Find the best look for this treatment from Restoration Hardware. The textured linens are beautiful. Make sure the rod is quality.

For the windows that have only one side for a stack back, treat the windows the same by covering the window. When you want full daylight, you can push back either the windows with four panels (corner) and double windows that have two panels, or one side for push back

7 panels and your done.
