Do you have photos taken during construction showing the framing and waterproofing? Some cracks and fissures are natural in marble but this seems excessive

It's problematic. There can be multiple reasons. What were the qualifications of the installer? The tiles were installed by our contractor but I didn’t see the method he used, I will ask. The bottom part of the grout doesn’t seem to dry out, I had thought this was a seperate issue but perhaps its realated! (image attached).

Where did that marble come from? What qualifications did the tile contractor have? And is that grout or silicone at the change of planes? Obviously can't see how it was set. It can be a combination of poor materials and improper prep. Not there and don't have access to the methods used. I'll bet there's movement in the framing and/or substrate. Something's gotta give and it's your tile. It doesn't look too bad now, natural actually, but who knows when you start filling those cracks with dead skin cells and mildew.

Dragonfly or whomever- what are we seeing on the right side of the shower? The lower half looks orange but not schluter orange, then it looks like bright white drywall mud, then grey cement board? Also looks like a real paucity of fasteners but it could be the lighting.

Looks more like drywall. My gut says the cracked tiles will be the least of your worries on short order. Looks to be a mismosh of substrate and systems. Do you know what the substrate was? The waterproofing system used?

Looks like drywall in the shower but cement behind the toilet. It also looks like the tile is directly on osb?

There is nothing in those build photos that is done correctly. This is a 100% redo.

-The tile came from Mandarin Stone which is a well known supplier in the uk.

-The builder came well recommended and we had seen previous work he completed, but I’m not certain on exact qualifications.

-It is grout between the tiles and silicon between the tiles and shower tray.

Hi Millworkman, thank you. I don’t know what waterproof was used, I will ask. As far as I know the walls are plaster board and then plastered. The reason the wall on the right is still showing the plaster board when the rest is tiled, is because they were meant to built an alcove and then said it was too much work, so instead that wall was just tiled as normal.

The builder is coming back soon to finish things off in the rest of the house, should I be asking them to re-do this area from scratch or can it be saved!?
